What was it about petite East Asian women with high IQs? Rodney McKay wasn’t sure; all he knew was that they were a magnet to him, drawing him in.

He hadn’t loved Miko until he’d met her in Antarctica (by which time he’d already become involved with the Stargate programme), but he’d convinced her to come with him, to explore Pegasus. They’d advanced in fits and starts, with the occasional three steps back. And then she’d died.

Katie hadn’t fit either of the phenotypes -- tall blondes or short raven-haired women -- but Katie did pull him from the brink of self-destruction.

The day had finally come when the Wraith had been defeated once and for all, with no possibility of a recurrence. McKay’d been one of the ones who’d volunteered to leave. He’d said his goodbyes, made his peace - as much as he could: Katie and he broke up - and returned to Earth, avowed to remain mum on what was out there…in space.

Not even a year later, only three hundred days after leaving Pegasus, he’d met Tosh and fallen for her.

And now he was helping her track Weevils.
