"Charlie?" Amita asked.
He looked at her, then back at Liz and Brie who were waiting patiently for his answer. Two options hovered before him - 'go on a dinner, see if there's anything between them' vs 'help solve this latest case.'
"A kidnapping, right?" Charlie asked.
Liz nodded, glad he was here to help.
Brie clapped, pleased; as an archeologist, she was happy to help Charlie find the bad guys.
In ancient Sumerian tales, the hero Gilgamesh was two-thirds god and one-third man. It was, Charlie had learned very well by now, the best way to proceed - if two of the ladies' requests overlapped, go with that. Democracy in action, Charlie thought to himself some nights.
He stepped towards Liz and Brie, thinking aloud, "Maybe we should start with..." and was always glad none of the six eyes glazed over - the three of them had different levels of comprehension, but they all tried to understand.
Amita would throw in her help because he asked her, though I'm not sure how much longer that may be, Charlie thought when he was honest with himself, and right now wasn't sure she'd be open to resheduling in the next hour or four.
Charlie rarely prayed for anything, ever...but for this, he made an exception: that the three of them never wanted to do three different things at the same time.
