I guess after so many shows which feature cities (Life, New Amsterdam, Dresden Files, etc), my default assumption was "tis a city".

Yup. I haven't watched it but I read all the reviews. See, I remember my mum telling me that when my grandfather (who's Muslim) came out to visit Australia, my dad told him not to go to the mosque at Lakemba and to go to another one instead because even if he was a Muslim, the people there were still basically...fundamentalists. I think you know what I mean.

LOL in my earlier comment I meant to say Lakemba's a suburb of Sydney. Not of 'city'.

the only Australian show I can remember watching when I was growing up, was Dolphin Cove, and I don't think that mentioned cities or suburbs.

this is all I remember, besides the fact that it aired alongside The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour:

a widower moved his family to the coast, and his daughter (either developmentally disabled or struck dumb by the accident that killed her mother) suddenly shows marked improvement when she spends time with the dolphins - much to the surprise of the teenage son and father.

I think there was a teenage girl who lived with dolphins, but I'm not sure.
