Numb3rs in the 1980s...

The ASBs {alien space bats} send all episodes of Numb3rs 25 years into the past, to the year 1984. Two years earlier, director Ridley Scott released the movie "Bladerunner", and now this very strange series surfaces (which the ASBs have produced in formats suitable for 1984 and in sufficient quantities), purportedly made by Ridley Scott as a producer years into the future!

People are baffled by the world depicted in there, which is no less weirder and cyberpunkier than the world depicted in "Blade Runner":

- the existence of super-advanced computer technology, including an "internet" and a vast array of technology associated with it
- genetic engineering and the danger of pandemics
- super-advanced terrorists
- portable telephones are omnipresent.
- megacorporations that are involved in scandals and conspiracies.
- the US is apparently fighting a war in Afghanistan (as well as Iraq), and there is no single mentioning of the Soviet Union.

For the people of 1984, a window into a very strange future!

can you think of anything else that might take someone from the 1980s by surprise?

ah, numb3rs
