since they're going to make a movie of the book The Yiddish Policeman's Union (set in the Federal District of Sitka, neighbor of Alaska and Canada)...

I've got a few thoughts about who might be good to play the role of Meyer Landsman (though the best canidates, like Dylan Bruno, who have the voice down pat, are too young, and Sean Connery's too old)

But then there's the other lead: Detective Landsman's fellow detective Det. Berko Shemets.

here's his description:
'But to look at, he's pure Tlingit. Tartar eyes, dense black hair, broad face built for joy but trained in the craft of sorrow. The Bears* are a big people, and Berko stands two meters tall in his socks and weighs in at 110 kilograms. He has a big head, big feet, big belly and hands. Everything about Berko is big except for the baby in his arms.'

* = the character's mother's name was Laurie Jo Bear of Hoonah, a member of the Raven Moiety.

who would you get to play Berko?
