A couple of days late for boxing day... *g* I'm actually not sure what it celebrates anyway. all I do is go shopping on that day! Lots of shiny boxing day sales.

Happy new year!

Snopes has a pretty good explanation of Boxing Day and its possible origin. The origin is disputed, of course, which makes it fun. *g*

I'd always seen it as a left-over of the UK aristocracy or landed gentry presenting gifts to their staff and serfs etc on the day after Christmas.

oops, forgot to leave the link! http://www.snopes.com/holidays/christmas/boxingday.asp

That's really interesting! I'd forgotten how much I love that site. :)

On an OT note: Eee. Primeval bunnies are munching on my brain. *g* I've already got about 2000 words on my Big Bang.

Yay! *sneaks lettuce to the plot bunnies* I joined the Big Bang comm this afternoon. Fred and I already have a story in mind, that we've been wanting to write for a while, so I don't think we'll be short on words. *veg*

Yay! I look forward to reading it (and all the other fics). Finished novel-length (well novella length) fics are awesome. *g* I have to admit I tend to avoid WIPs. Bad experiences in other fandoms with people not finishing. :(

You and Fred do a lot of collab work, don't you? I admire you guys for it! I've never managed to collab successfully with somebody. I plan on hopefully trying with somebody in RL though who I met through fandom. *g*

I suspect that not ending WIP's in this fandom would be likely to have the Denial mob descend on your enmasse. *veg*

I hadn't written fic in over a decade, and fredbassett lured me back in my having me help research the plot bunnies I'd foisted on her... and before long (within the space of a week, actually) I was writing parts of the fic myself. We tend to divide up the scenes that need doing between us and then slot them in together. I started writing in part 11 of Silk & Steeel, and we're now up to part 27, with a few more parts under our belts.

When I added up my word count last night, it turned out that 17,000 of my 46,000 words is in Silk & Steel! We're lucky that our writing styles are very similar as we can just slot the parts together pretty seamlessly.
