COMMENTARY: Thomas Ricks Accuses Fox News of "Operating as a Wing of the Republican Party"

I agree with Thomas Ricks.

I would point out that he's born 9/25 of 1955.

That's the birthday of actor Christopher Reeve as Superman. I have a Superman tag. It's not much of a secret that Fox News leans toward the Republican Party ideals.

The way that Benghazi incident was being covered was being politicized.

The reason why I felt sorry for President Obama and sympathized with him is because few people know what it's like to be Commander in Chief. I've spent the last 8 years dealing with the Subconscious Collective where I have seen how it operates.

There are more things going on. There's criticism about government transparency and how President Obama supposedly should have just flat out pointed the finger at Libya and said stuff. However, you don't just go around accusing other countries of things without hard evidence or proof.

You're not going to get verified or solid truth within hours. It will take a committee or review board to study what happened.

If the United States just started pointing fingers and throwing around blame, how different is that from the other side that was quick to blame the United States for the filmmaker who chose to exercise his freedom to make "whatever movie he wanted" under the umbrella of the United States even if it's not a true or accurate representation of the American people's views on the situation.

You see the other side trying declare a Holy War on the United States pushing that "every American" thinks this way about them. That's not true.

That's stereotyping.

I claim the Executive Branch of the U.S. government handled the situation as best they could. They didn't "bungle" it or screw it up.

If people knew what kind of decisions I had to make, you'd see the same thing. Groups criticizing my decisions.

That's why the information was all secret or encrypted. I got to spend at least 7 to 8 years on my own with no one nagging me about how I was doing the job wrong. If I had known about what I was doing when I was a teenager or even in my 20s with people criticizing every decision I made, I'd be a nervous wreck.

Regretfully, that's most likely why Scott and no one else close to me could know. I had said that Scott works for NASA and has government clearance. If Scott had definitive proof that what I tried to show him in 2004 was real, he would've consulted with his government contacts.

Those people would've sunk their claws into the project attempting to control it. That's the wrong thing to do.

So by disguising it as a "crackpot theory" that people dismiss as silly, it remained under the radar. It was a way to hide something in plain sight.

A Fox News interview ended rather abruptly on Monday after a guest took not one but two jabs at the network hosting him (see update below).

Co-anchor Jon Scott interviewed Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Thomas Ricks, who has covered the military for decades, about his new book "The Generals." Scott asked Ricks weigh in on the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi and Sen. John McCain's criticisms of Amb. Susan Rice.

"I think Benghazi was generally hyped by this network especially," Ricks said. He added that he thought McCain seemed to be "backing off" from criticizing Rice since "the campaign [was] over."

"When you have four people dead for the first time in more than 30 years, how do you call that hype?" Scott said, pushing back against Ricks' characterization of the network's coverage.

Ricks compared the situation to security contractors who were killed in Iraq. He described the attack in Benghazi as a "small fire-fight" and added, "I think the emphasis on Benghazi has been extremely political, partly because Fox is operating as the wing of the Republican Party."

At that point, Scott thanked Ricks for his time and ended the interview after about 90 seconds.

UPDATE: According to the New York Times' Brian Stelter, a Fox News staffer told Ricks he was rude following the interview. Ricks said that he thinks the hit lasted "about half as long as planned."
