Shatmoy Cometh!

This discussion of the Feast of Shatmoy, the week recognizing the births of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, is a fascinating dissection of the Canadian version of this major geek holiday season. Kapoor thought it worthwhile to mention Second Night in the States, which some of our Canadian cousins view as a time of mourning. Here in the States it is a time of anticipation, one that focuses not on what was lost, but on what will be. The promise of the future is recognized in viewings of episodes from Mission: Impossible's fourth season, in which Nimoy is a regular, and early episodes of Shatner's T.J.Hooker - especially the second episode, in which the promise of redemption is made explicit when Nimoy guest-stars.

Note that all T.J.Hooker showings are accompanied with feasting on big slices of ham. Some celebrants preface Mission: Impossible viewings with magic tricks in honor of the Great Paris.
