Thoughts on 02x03

Not quite the mixture of fun and drama that I love, but from the pure perspective of a TV show, a pretty good episode. I love carguments and snarky Danny comments, and there wasn't much. But I stil enjoyed this episode!
Did you notice that Max has a part in the opening credits? Max! I love you!

Steve, Steve, Steve, you look so manly on the firing range. Makes my heart flutter. And I'm not usually one to be swayed by masculine masculinity. But you are McAlpha.

I like Joe. He's a good guy, and Steve smiles a lot when Joe's around. You can just see the respect in his eyes. I hope Joe stays a long time. He does look a little like an elf, though.

Max! Nice job trying to get Steve to play along with "Well, I need a good reason to reopen the case, hint, hint." Too bad Steve didn't get it. I think he needs Danny there to interpret for him. Where is my Danny?

Five-O HQ. Lori disses Joe!!! What was that! He tried to put out his hand for a nice friendly "Good to meet you" handshake, and she turned her back on him! Ok, I'm trying to give Lori the benefit of the doubt (because I always want people to succeed), but I have one word for her in this episode: PISSY. She was rude in this scene. Yes, the Gov put her in an awkward situation and yes, some people have a hard time fitting in with a new group (Me, for one). But come on, Lori, be a professional person here! Steve got over the intial bad feelings created by the Gov pushing Lori into the group, and he's been nice and professional ever since.

Max!! You're a secret agent! OMG, this is just too fantabulous for words!! I am beside myself with cheering!

Hiking through the jungle. I like all the SEAL information we're getting from the guys. I guess because it's insight into something I know nothing about. Chin fits in nicely. He's great at contributing what he can and respecting the knowledge of the others in the group. (Did you hear that, Lori? Maybe he can give you lessons!)

There's my Danny! But Danny....what happened to your crack detective skills? I was disappointed that he didn't think they needed to talk to the widow's boss-man. He's identifying with the failing marriage thing. My heart just weeps for him. And I hate Rachel all the more now, and she' s not even in this episode. If I see her on the street tomorrow, I will throw tomatoes at her!!!!!

The "rubbing your ring finger" thing was weird. I don't know any men who do that. My boss sometimes twists his wedding ring when he's talking, but I also sometimes twirl my ink pen. Does that mean I have emotional problems with Bic or PaperMate?

Oh, drug guys! You are messing with a SEAL/FIVE-0 Hybrid team, and you don't stand a chance! That was so awesome when they took out that jeep with...a tree!!!???? BAMF!

Steve and Danny are going to talk to the widow's boss-man (finally!). I totally understand Steve's anger, but it was kind of jarring to come back from the commercial and he's all riled up like that. I thought maybe they were doing "good cop, bad cop." I did love the way Danny put his arms around Steve's waist and patted him. McDanno!!!

We narrowly missed a cargument! This was more of a car-discussion. Carcussion? Hmmm....

More Joe and Steve. And Max! Max! I love you!

I am now convinced that Kono is working undercover. There's no way on this Earth that she would change so much and become a scummy anti-Five-0 like this. No no no no no.

Steve and Joe are at the Tiki Bar! Did they go there for the umbrella drinks that Joe won from Steve when they were on the firing range? No, they went there to see that Marine guy who was so difficult earlier. Aha, he want to help! Yay, Marine guy!

Steve can fly!! This shouldn't surprise us, since he is a Greek god. This was an awesome scene!! He looked so cool zooming out of the sky to save the SEAL in midair! Bet that was hard to film, though. But well worth it.

Final scene in the situation room. So so good! I liked the contrast between Danny being...well, Danny...and Steve and Joe being all serious. They knew what they were going to see in a few minutes. Kind of sobering, really. You could see it on Danny's face once he started watching the screens. "You used to do this stuff?" I know what Danny means. I know on an intellectual level that the men and women in the armed services have to deal with tough stuff, but to see it actually unfold in front of you is a whole different world. I loved the way the scene was staged, with everyone kind of behind Steve like they're backing him up. "We've got you're back." And the way Danny and Chin both stepped toward Steve, in support. Spot on acting from everyone!

And that's all I have to say! Aloha!
