Pahele, Episode 11 Thoughts

And the wheels on the bus go ‘round and ‘round,  ‘round and ‘round…Anybody?

Average episode this week. Lots of good parts, but not a huge outstanding one. We can’t expect a home run every time!

Danny’s wearing a tie! And all the people rejoiced! Honestly, and don’t throw pineapples at me, I like him without the tie. Gives me easier access if I want to nibble on his neck. xD (Hey, it’s my journal and I can pretend whatever I want.) But on a fashion tangent, it would have been nice for the others to dress better, too. Just sayin’.

Kono: “I always liked the tie.” Danny: “Thank you.” I’m kind of starting to ship these two!

Joe! I wonder how the Navy found out about the foray into North Korea? I’m glad that he didn’t betray the SEALs who helped them. And now he has to retire. This made me wonder how old he is, so I looked up Terry O’Quinn in Wikipedia. He was born in 1952, which would make him…..uh…wait, carry the 2….59 years old! Interesting fact: he’s from Michigan. Now I’m wondering about the slight southern accent I keep hearing? Must be a Joe White thing.

I’m having flashbacks to the kidnapped college students from my favorite pirate episode in S1. (Tongan Pirate Zombies FTW!) All the parents gathered around. The Five-0s talking to them. One rogue parent.

Danny looked so pensive, inside the classroom. I could just imagine that he was thinking about Grace. I wonder what’s up with his relationship with Grace, now that Rach-Hell has gone back to Step-Stan and all.

Poor Cammy the Camaro looks messy in the mud! I don’t have much experience driving in mud, but if it’s anything like driving in snow (and I have lots-o-experience!), that rearwheel-drive sports car handles amazingly well!!! Must be because Speedy Steve is driving (right, Amber?).

Cargument!! “If you see something blinking red, go ahead and pull it over.” Hahahaha! “I hope this truck has good brakes.” Cammy hopes so, too.

And the truck is full of pineapples! Did Danny ever actually say that he doesn’t like pineapples? He said they don’t belong on pizza. But it’s still funny!

And look! Steve has discovered that the truck was hauling something along with the pineapples and the dead guy!

Why are the kidnappers calling Steve? How do they know his phone number? And why haven’t they given it to Amber?

Steve and Danny interrogate the drug guy at the prison, then on their way out they run into Joe!! Whaaaat? I loved the way Joe was just “Hi, Steve” all casual-like and then tries to amble away. You would think they were just strolling the aisles at the local Wal-Mart! (Or, Hula-Mart, as it's known in Hawaii.)

Kono interviews the drug guy. This would have been a great task for a profiler, if only they had one on their team! Maybe they should consider hiring a former FBI profiler so there’s someone to do profiler-type work when needed. Like these kidnapping cases. (I don’t think using the phrase “doesn’t fit the profile” once or twice a day qualifies.) Kono did a great job extracting the information. I find it interesting, now that I’m looking back and know who he really is, that he apparently gave her accurate information! Or, wait, maybe he wanted them to find the place where the bus was hidden, because the kids weren’t there anymore? I’m a little confused. This why I am neither a cop nor a robber.

I still wonder what’s going on with Lori. We know so little about her, and she kind of drifts around. Does she have some secret that’s going to come out later in the season? Does she hold some significance we don’t suspect? I thought it was odd that she took over the discussion with the dad who came to see Steve.

Have you noticed how much upgraded, tough-looking, heavy-duty equipment the Five-Os are using now? They used to go in with their little handguns and Kevlar vests. Then the guns got bigger. Thigh holsters starting showing up on a regular basis. And even  bigger guns! And the vests are more substantial and have more pockets. Now they wear those gloves (which I think are supposed to protect their hands during fights?) and little listening devices. What’s next? (Seriously, though, it’s probably more realistic now.)

Steve looks so nice wearing his Kevlar vest while loading tracking devices into the pizza boxes cocaine packages. Amber insisted that I include this picture. I’m not sure why, but she hasn’t been feeling well and I wanted to make her happy.

Skip forward to the Hawaii Cement Company. Everyone runs around, guns blazing, and….Lori needs to be rescued. Again? Didn’t that happen in an earlier episode? They realize that the kids are being buried under this huge mountain of dirt, and they start digging with their hands!!!! I laughed! Steve has big hands, but come on! Although I probably would have done the same thing in a desperate attempt to do something! But 3 cheers for Chin Ho, who did the smart thing and went to get a bulldozer! Perhaps he was the only one with a bulldozer endorsement on his driver’s license. We would not want our elite cops to get a ticket for operating heavy equipment without a proper license. So, ok.

Steve driving the school bus was such a cute touch!! Awwww! Everyone was happy. Danny spared a fond look for his hero, Steve.

This ending was totally confusing and brought up so many questions! Joe wanted Steve to hear this vital information, which Noshimori was quite willing to tell, then Joe calls someone to say that Steve is getting too close to the truth??? Whaaat? But Joe is leading him? What is up?? I wonder if Joe and Noshimori are working together? Did they stage the “tied up in the trunk” thing to throw Steve off? But, why even summon Steve to be there, if they didn’t want him to know? So…they do want him to know…something. I think Shelburne is someone that Steve knows. Maybe it’s Joe? We don’t know that he was calling Shelburne. I kind of assumed that at first, but now…  What I DO know is that I don’t want Joe to be a bad guy who betrays Steve!!!! Not another one! No! Steve does not deserve this kind of treatment!!! Joe needs to ultimately be on Steve’s side, even if he is secretive and tricky.

That’s it for this week! I’m so excited for the wedding next time!!! Aloha!
