Thoughts on Ki’Ilua, episode 10

Excellent episode! Almost like watching a movie. The acting, for the most part, was superb. But, there aren’t too many opportunities for silliness and fun. This may not be as  lighthearted as what I usually write.

But I can always manage a few giggles….

I love the Hawaiian scenery that we get every week. Honest, I’m talking about the actual land this time, not the actors. It looks so beautiful!

Chin and Malia are engaged!!! That scene was so sweet! We loved the way he announced it at the end of the show, too, when they were all in the helicopter! I hope we get to see the wedding!!! (I should make sure they have my correct address so my invite doesn't get lost in the mail.)

Danny is in charge quite a bit at the beginning. It’s nice to see that side of him. It makes me think more about his usual relationship with Steve. They are both such alpha males. Steve is in charge, yet Danny isn’t subservient or powerless. He has no trouble taking over when needed.

It seems a little insensitive to have Steve talk about Woman’s Day for this episode. Instead, let’s just take a moment to appreciate his new tat. We won’t bother him otherwise.

Steve's willingness to help Jenna is so touching. He has such a big heart!! Why did she have to stomp all over that heart?? He looked so betrayed at her duplicity, later on.  "You traded me for him."

Danny to Steve, “Do me a favor and watch yourself, huh?”
Steve to Danny, "I'll think about you the whole time while I'm gone."

Danny really did look worried. "You've done this before, right?" No, Steve, you won’t be ok. Didn’t you see the trailers?

SEAL Steve in his element is a beautiful thing!!!! How can one man be so covered with awesome sauce?? He’s elegant. He’s handsome. He’s tough. Amber is swooning and drooling right now! But we know what’s coming. Jenna and Wo Fat.

I could hardly stand to watch the scenes in the bunker. So brutal. So beyond words. Just heart-wrenching! Who was sobbing along with me?

“We come back with Steve or we don’t come back.”

Great continuity with the return of the Marine and SEALs from a few episodes ago. McHero Steve saved them, now they return the favor. No man left behind. Wouldn't it be wonderful if people were like that in real life? No wonder I love this show!

Danny's socks. Only he would prepare for a foray into North Korea by wearing blue striped socks and Converse tennis shoes.

How many people LOLed when Danny said he's more of a margarita guy? So obvious and easy, but yet so funny!! I suspect there were more Jimmy Buffett references, but sadly, I didn't catch them. I did, however, drink a margarita in his honor. And one for Danny, too.

“You have a chicken nesting in your helicopter, sir.”

I was glad that Jenna wasn't truly evil. She was just naïve, Amber said. Still, Steve has the same terrible result regardless of her reasons.

So, no one knows what "Shelburne" is? Wo Fat doesn't. Steve doesn't. I suspect that Joe does. What secrets do you have, Joe? I really like Joe, and I hope he doesn’t turn out to be a bad guy.

Lovely touch when Danny paused briefly after finding Jenna dead. A moment of mourning, perhaps because she saved his life once. Danny is a person with incredible depth. And great biceps. Especially in that black tshirt.

The action with the convoy? So great! This is the part that seemed like a movie! The look on Steve’s face when he realized Danny was there to save him!!! It was a good idea to have the “true” military guys there (instead of just the Five-0s) because that made it a little more believable. They are the best special investigative task force, but it would have been a little too much if they’d been able to pull off a special forces op with just Joe to help.

Did you notice that Danny didn't complain or whine about being shot at? Yes, his sarcasm/sense of humor was still there, but where Steve is concerned, he was willing to go through anything.

Amber says, "Steve immediately grabbed a gun and prepared for defense when he got in the helicopter. I think he needed to be secure by having a weapon and being ready. He'd been so defenseless and helpless."

Aloha, and mahalo! Let’s end with some humor. I’m like that.  “Find a woman you hate and BUY HER A HOUSE.”
