Today was good. I've made a new friend. Well, not a
new friend, but I've connected with someone whom I haven't spent much
time with in the past. Her name is Zen. What a name, huh?! Yep,
Creative Jukebox Zen XTRA. You may not be an iPod, but at least I have
iPod headphones that I stole from...somewhere? I've been dancing around
with her like you all you crazy mofos with iPods, 'cept mine's bigger
and cost less. And for that, she sings sweeter than any other.
Life tends to blur the vision and throw back the
hair. Today, while on the phone with Christina, my dad walks slowly out
of his office...clearly needing to tell me something. He says, "Well,
Uncle Ruby died. And cousin Laurie got some kind of heart attack while
in the shower today and passed out. She suffered head injuries and is not doing
well. Grandma just called Aunt Missy and told her there are police all
over her house. Turns out that 5 escaped convicts robbed two other
houses on her street. So that's what Mom just told me." And my uncle is
getting married in two weekends. One of my great uncles passed away.
One of my mother's cousins is in critical condition and my grandma is
drinking a gin and tonic before she goes to bed. As a Bokonist would
say: busy, busy, busy.
The APA dance is on the 13th. Go to it. I won't be
there 'til the end...if at all, seeing as I'll be in Las Vegas for
Rod's wedding. Will my grandma show up despite putting her foot down
against the wedding of a 48 year old man to a 40-something year old
Christian, despite neither of them intending to procreate? Will my
grandfather show up despite my grandma putting her fut down against the
wedding of a 48 year old man who is one of his closest friends? Tune in
on the 14th for post-SuperWedding analysis.
I've been wearing collered shirts and sweaters. I
like it. It's warm, it's nice, it makes me look like a snob. I like
looking like a snob. I figure, 'hey..a new look for a new semester,
right?' Right.
On days like this, I feel like letting you hear what I'm listening to. This whole FTP thing works out great..when it works. Just click on that link down thurr to listen to the song.
bittydancer -- That girl in my
class I told you I was crushing on? Waaay transferred out this
semester. Bah.
Send me your favorite song (either at wryanpinkham@gmail.com or on AIM @ iDoJewJitsu) and I'll write a review of it in my next entry.
I figure I'll find a girl soon. I'm just gonna sit
back and let it all work itself out. Life's too calm and the weather's
too cool to do anything but let it be. Here's to the simple life and here's
another to the single one.
