Busy as usual

The highlights of the last two weeks:

Last Friday night I hung out with Christine, Heather, and Meredith watching Muriel's Wedding, which was very pleasant low stress fun.

On Saturday, I got us a new desktop. When I bought the old one a couple years ago, I got this warranty that let me trade it in for credit in the amount of the original purchase price towards a new one, and it was time to take advantage of that or lose it. Overall, I really like the new one. The old one was very bottom-of-the-line, and the new one is something of an upgrade.

Sunday night, we got our new characters for the new campaign all written up. Bob will be DM-ing, which I think will bring a different tone to the game. Considering neither Bob, Andy, nor I have ever played D&D at all other than the 3 year Eric led campaign we just finished, this will be a pretty substantial change.

Tuesday night, I did the same trade-in thing with our laptop. Same story, also an upgrade, pretty happy, etc.

However, ever since then I've been spending lots of time getting increasingly frustrated trying to set up our home network to do what I want to do. Keeping in mind that I know almost nothing about networking, it took me a while to get things set up how I wanted on the old computers, but I managed it. Now, I have to start over figuring out how to accomplish that in Vista. Which so far, is substantially harder (for a non-computer geek) than in XP because Vista wants to be the boss of me and I don't really know what I'm doing. Neither does Charter's tech support, by the way. At least I can admit it. More of this is on the agenda for today.

On the good side of the ledger, I went with my two coworkers and one of their daughters and had a pedicure and dinner at Outback last night. Eric worked a mid shift instead of closing, and we came home and cleaned the whole house. So I woke up this morning to pretty purple toenails and a sparkling clean casa.

friends, d&d
