Since I've managed to accomplish almost nothing to day (to be fair, it's both the first day in a while and the last day for a while that I'll get a chance to do that), I thought I'd post a little update. In no particular order, here's what I can think of.
I've been very busy at work, but I'm still really enjoying it. A year into this job, that still seems like a refreshing change. Effective last week, I've taken over the Saturday National Testing program which is run through one of the departments under my director. Basically, I'll be in charge of administering the SAT, ACT, LSAT, PCAT, and a couple other standardized tests. The upside is that I get paid well for relatively easy work in running these things, so I'll be able to pick up some extra income. The downside is that it takes up at least 1/2 of any Saturday I work. Most months that will be 1 or 2 at most, but there are three in October, so this is the only Saturday off I'm going to get until Halloween.
Speaking of which, I was soooo excited to find a female Robin costume at a Halloween store a couple of weeks ago, that I bought it even though I have no idea what we're doing for Halloween. We were talking about having a party here, but with Eric feeling poorly (see below) and me working almost every weekend this month, we've decided it's too much to take on. Maybe next year.
I've been working a lot on updating my website (
www.beadsofathena.com). The changes aren't to the design so much as trying to make the existing design look better with better/bigger photos, etc. I'd also just gotten drastically behind on putting up new jewelry designs. I've also been adding new stuff to my shop and as of last week, I have a few peices for sale at
Side Street Beads/All Good Gifts. It's just a few to see how things go. As ever, I'm not working nearly as hard as I could be to market my work, but it's a hobby, so I don't want to make it not fun by pushing myself too hard.
Eric has like, the worstest cavity in the history of teeth, and is probably going to have to have some kind oral surgery to fix things. He's been feeling very bad as the tooth hurts itself and it's proximity to his sinuses has been causing him to basically feel like he has a sinus infection. Poor baby. The doctor has given him lots of drugs, but I hope they are able to do whatever needs to be done next week so he'll start feeling better for real.
And finally, I'll leave you with a picture of my Robin costume and one of me and Eric at Ben's vampire birthday party (which was totally fun and definately a highlight since the last time I updated this).
