This is getting to be a habit! I have a new story, How To Win Friends And Influence People, written for trekchic, maker of icons extraordinaire, who wanted a friendship story with Kirk, McCoy and Spock. Enjoy ( Read more... )

Another fine piece Rocky! I love how you interweave the things from established canon into this alternate timeline. Also I have to say you have surely captured the characters from the movie very well, I was just telling angelout2killme the other day that the Kirk/McCoy/Spock friendship was always the pull for me in TOS.

Thanks for brightening yet another Monday!

Thanks! I had a lot of fun with this one. I do think the three of them are on their way to rebuilding or recapturing something close to what they had had in the original timeline.

This is just perfect, Rocky, and you know I'm not even a Kirk fan! But I perhaps could have been had he been written like this. The banter is spot-on, I love the old-time-line references, and your Bones. . .oh, my. He and Spock have always been my favorite TOS people, and I honestly loved every word he uttered here. So perfecty in character. (Also love the boys shuddering at the idea of counselors.)

Good news about the phone. Keep us posted on the world peace.

I am very amused that you apparently like Fratboy!Kirk...The dialogue practically wrote itself, I just had to type fast enough to keep up with them! (As a side-note, can you imagine a counselor's session with one of them?!)

Not Fratboy!Kirk! No-o-o-o-o! That's not what I like about him here. I like his moments of self-awareness, his recognition of just how much of an ass he can be /g/. Those insights immediately make him much less of an annoying fratboy. And admittedly, I don't know canon TOS as well as I know the other shows, but I can't recall many moments of self-knowledge for the old-time-line!Kirk.

I love those times when you feel as if you're channeling the actual characters as you write, when you feel more like scribe than creator. That's usually when I know it's really working.
