So yesterday I felt like I was getting a cold, so I took dayquil so that I wouldn't be coughing and sneezing on people's food.
And that shit messed me up. All day I was exhausted. Until about 11. I decided I should go to bed early and hopefully sleep late. Well of course around 11 (more than 12 hours after I took the damn medicine) it was finally completely out of my system and I wasn't woozy or tired anymore.
So I was up till about 2:30.
And in that time I realized that my dog is ridiculously smart.
lets see what he knows: He can tell the difference between all of his toys... which would be big blue, jumball, ball, rope ball, monster ball, football, mickey, green bone, red kong, and stinker bone.
He can get us our shoes (and I'm working on him being able to distinguish between my flip flops and my pumas... but hes usually too excited to pay attention to that because he knows when he gets our shoes that we're taking him with us).
He also knows that when we put our shoes on or brush our teeth it means we're leaving. So he gets all anxious until we tell him if we're taking him or not. So he understand "do you want to...(go for a walk, go for a ride, go to somewhere)" and by that time he knows we're taking him. And if we say "home alone" he gets all depressed and goes and lays on my bed.
He knows exactly where we're going and who he'll see if we tell him we're going to grandma's. He knows where hes going if steve taks him fishing. And he knows where we're going if we tell him we're going to the park. And he knows the difference between going for a walk and going for a ride, no matter how you say it. You can't even say walk without his ears perking up. And he knows what car to go to when i tell him.
He knows that hes supposed to chase the squirrels.
He knows what constitutes the garden, and that hes not supposed to go in it.
He knows the difference between my mom, my stepdad, and me. Plus he knows grandma, and Tim, Serena, and probably Angela when they're here.
He knows that when you ask him if he wants to do a trick, and then you have him get jumball, that hes going to do the trick where you throw the ball at the tv stand and the doors pop open, and hes supposed to go close them. So if you tell him that, and jumball isn't in plain site, he'll go over, hit the doors with his nose, open them, and then close them. And then he'll go get himself a treat.
His treats are on a canister on the ground. And minus the trick situation where he decided he deserved one, he can be trusted to have them sitting on the ground without stealing any until we tell him to. then he knows to open that door and just take one.
He knows the difference between bones, pigs ears, and treats, and knows where each of them are kept.
He knows that if I'm in the same room as my stepdad and he gets in trouble, he can come over by me and I won't yell at him and I'll pet him when Steve does.
He always asks for permission before going up on the couch. (no, I'm not so insane as to think that he talks... but he does stick his chin on it and look at you until you either tell him its okay or that he can't go up there). He also knows that there has to be a blanket on the couch or he wont' go on no matter what you say. (or maybe hes just psycho that way)
When he does something wrong you always know right away because he comes by you and slinks down without you even saying anything.
And I'm sure I'mmissing a bunch.
Then I realized that I'm one of those crazy people who is insanely attached to their dogs. Because not only did i choose to ponder how smart my dog was, I also took the time to type it all out and brag to anyone who reads this.
I don't care... I still like my dog better than most of you. :D
