This morning I caught the first 167 of the day, and took the last 167 home. This was done for good reason, as I had a rather wonderful day. It's worth documenting in any case

"That's one thing I like about taking the bus is that it gives you time to stop and look around." That's why I like trainrides. I have a four hour one from Vienna to my hometown, from the last foothills right into the Alps. I always plan on studying on the train but quite often never manage to do any because the scenery is too nice.
"meat grinder institution"-I don't exactly know what that means....but, in any case, it took me so long to connect with people at UW and to start hanging out with them in a context other than homework. In Austria a couple of beers after class or a Glühwein booth at University before Christmas really accelerate things....
I guess in any organisation as big as UW you are just a face in the crowd. An organisation will never care about an individual, it depends on your immediate surroundings, the people in your department, your colleagues. At Vienna University as an organisation I am a number with 7 digets. But at the physics institute I am definitely more than a face in the crowd

Did the interviewers get christmas bonuses? James called me and was like "why have you been missing your shifts for the past 3 weeks?" I laughed and said, "Um...remember me giving my 2 weeks notice? And when I went in to your office and told you that it was my last day?" Hahahaha. Bitches.
Yeah, you were on the schedule last weekend, and I was like "I'm rather positive she quit." Silly HR. I hope Fuego is treating you with the tenderness and respect PMR will never have.
I think the experience you have at the UW in very contingent on the department you are in. The theatre department in one of the closest departments I have ever been in (lol, and this is my third school). You deffinately have to out your self out there, but every one is wonderful and very welcoming. They deffinately get you in the habbit of being out going and talking to new people. So yeah! I had a wonderful time having coffee with you and the other folks from philosophy, we need to do it again once classes start. Have a good break.

By meat grinder, I mean UW is so big it doesn't really care about you as an individual. You're just another face in the crowd.
I'm not sure what a Glühwein booth is, but I'm sure it helps the friend-making process.
