I'm not sure if I mentioned it here or not, but Hurricane Irene hit Frost Valley extremely hard. Frost Valley is my childhood and my adulthood. I've been going there for 25 years and my family has been going for over 35 years. I was so excited to share it with Colton and Daphne this past May and hope to go every year with them. I also want them to be campers there when they are old enough...I went every summer as a kid for the full 8 weeks of sleepaway camp.

Well Irene hit and demolished buildings, roads, and flooded the entire place. Pictures of the destruction break my heart, it literally makes me cry to look at that them. Frost Valley has been asking for donations to help rebuild, so far they've raised $100,000 but need $750,000 to fix everything. They're a non-profit organization, very little is covered by insurance, and FEMA can only give them so much aid. Next week me, my brother, my cousin Lisa, and her boyfriend Dan are going to Frost Valley to help clean up.

Jay is keeping Colton and Daphne for the entire weekend so that I can go and do this. I have no idea what I'm in for. The man I spoke with on the phone said to bring rubber boots, work gloves, and a big heart. He said this is not a raking leaves weekend. This will be a wading in water, pulling a destroyed building out of a river weekend. Frost Valley alumni only, 21+, you must love Frost Valley because we will be beating and abusing you.
