A club in Alexandria - Saturday Afternoon

Oct 25, 2008 14:02

Chuck had wanted to show his father the club he was interested in buying and Bart had been looking to spend some alone time with his son. Chuck had managed to convince him to take the limo off the island and through the portal to Alexandria (thankfully Bart wasn't asking too many questions about that) in order to show his father his new business venture.

The club wasn't exactly full but the girls were at the top of their game and Chuck leaned back against the plush couch in the lounge, confident that his father would take his deal.

Bart Bass"The place is....interesting, Chuck," Bart said.

Chuck Bass"Isn't it great?" Chuck said, looking pleased. "I know, it's kind of sparse in the patron department now but I think with some money and proper advertising, I think it could be the biggest club in Alexandria."

Sure, Alexandria wasn't New York but Chuck would like to have somewhere respectable to hang out while he was in Fandom.

Bart BassBart shook his head and took a healthy sip of his scotch. "You have really done your homework on this Chuck, I'll admit."

Chuck BassChuck tried not to look too excited about doing something that pleased his father. He tried to hide his smile behind his drink.

"Well, I like to think that I inherited some of the Bass business genes," he said. Yes, he was sucking up and, no, he didn't feel bad about it.

Bart Bass"Yes, you have done your homework," Bart repeated with a nod. "But I'm afraid I'm going to have to say no."

Chuck BassChuck blinked. "What?"

Bart BassBart sighed. "Look, Chuck, we both know that this isn't going to last. You're going to have your fun with the girls and as soon as you go through the line-up you'll forget this place ever existed. I don't see why you have to buy it to do that."

Chuck Bass"Dad, it's not like that--"

Bart Bass"Please, Chuck," Bart said calmly, not wishing to start a scene. "We both know how you are."

Chuck BassChuck was on the verge of throwing a hissy fit and sat himself back into the couch and finished half of his scotch in one gulp. "What was the point of coming here if you weren't going to say yes?"

Bart Bass"I came down here--" Bart leaned in and spoke lowly. He had no tolerance for his son's antics, especially in public. "--because I saw the effort you made."

Bart stood up from the couch and looked down at Chuck. "Do you want to impress me with your commitment to something? Try getting a few A's in school and, maybe, a part-time job."

He looked towards the door. "Let's get back to the school."

Chuck Bass"You go," Chuck said, not looking his father in the eye. "Send the limo back when you're done."

Bart BassBart sighed again. "Chuck, don't do this."

Chuck Bass"You shouldn't be surprised," Chuck said bitterly. "We both know how I am, after all."

Bart BassBart shook his head. Fine. He'd let him be that way. It only proved to him that Chuck wasn't ready to go into this business venture.

"If that's what you want," Bart said. "I'll see you tomorrow then."

Chuck Bass"Can't wait," Chuck said, raising his glass to his father as he left. As soon as his father was out the door Chuck ordered another drink. He then asked one of the higher ups that worked there to make sure that their best looking girl be in a private room waiting for him in the next five minutes.

His father had certain expectations, after all. Chuck was only living up to them.
