"Sure, it's the student's fault," Chuck said, frowning when he realized his father was in the way of the drink glasses.

"You were fine until you came here. Then everything fell apart when I wasn't here to keep an eye on you." Bart smiled when he realized what Chuck was looking at. "I'm not going to stop you from drinking, you know."

"You're dead," Chuck said as he opened up the bottle in his hand. Glasses were overrated. "You can't tell me to do anything anymore."

"I might be dead, but you still care about what I think," Bart told him. "I wouldn't be here if you didn't."

"Very," Bart agreed with a nod. He tilted his head in curiosity. "Why didn't you let that girl help you yesterday?"

"Attempting to drown yourself in booze is not solving your problems," Bart told him. "It's hiding from them. That is actually very in-character for you, I must say."

Chuck sighed and shut his eyes, feeling so goddamn tired all of a sudden. "She wouldn't have helped anything. Not really."

Bart rolled his eyes. "Your woe is me act is really getting old, Chuck."

"What would you like me to do?" Chuck asked, glaring. "You don't like me handling this myself, but if I got help you'd call me weak. I don't know what you want."

"I want you to man up and stop being such a baby," Bart said, taking on the tone that he reserved especially for lecturing Chuck. "I would have never left you the company if I knew you were going to buckle under the pressure like this."

"I'm not--" Chuck stopped mid-sentence when he realized his father was right. If this wasn't buckling under pressure, he didn't know what was. He took in a shaky breath and sat down on his bed, exhausted. "Please go away. Please."

Bart sighed, managing to convey all the disappointment he felt in that gesture. "I'll be seeing you again soon, son."

Chuck exhaled slowly once Bart had gone and took another deep drink from the bottle he was holding. He was definitely in trouble.
