I've become semi-used to abrupt change over the years.
The kind that knocks you off your feet as you were not expecting it.
However, the one change I haven't gotten used to is the holidays.
First it was when Janelle got married,
and they began to only come to christmas and thanksgiving every other year.
Then they had kids,
and now want to spend christmas morning at their house.
Which I totally understand.
But we don't even get to see them at all on christmas because of how far they live.
Instead we are forced to have a faux christmas on some basterdized day.
Now this year the rest of the family has also decided to alter the traditions.
First on my dads side, they will be spending the holiday in Hawaii.
So that means the christmas eve tradition will not be happening.
On my moms side, it was decided to celebrate christmas on the 13th.
So that means the christmas night tradition won't be happening.
First time in 27 years for me.
I'm sure its a lot more years than that for my mom.
It's just fucking weird, and gives me even less reasons to look forward to the holidays.
...........................
That being said, it will be nice to wake up on christmas and be able to relax.
As opposed to running around spending half the day in the car.
I love being able to enjoy my family,
but sometimes I just want to wake up and drink a cup of coffee on christmas.
Spend the day in my sweatpants watching christmas movies.
Maybe sit by the fire and read.
Change is weird, but I guess we should welcome it every now and again.
