Character Information
Name: Klavier Gavin
Fandom: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Age: 25
Gender: Male
OU, AU, or RU: RU (crucible_rpg
Assignment: IACC-Hawking

Appearance: Here! It should be noted that since Klavier cut his hair short towards the end of Crucible and it’s grown out some in the time that passed, it would be around shoulder length instead of in the drill style.

History: See previous app for history up until he arrived on the Crucible.

Crucible: Klavier arrived on the Crucible about a week before the ship crashed into the planet Eos. This was a bit of a rude start to the whole ordeal, and as such he never really got used to the spaceship part until the second cycle began, since he spent most of his first three months on an alien world. Apart from the crash landing, things went okay until widespread paranoia hit the passengers, spread from the pollen in the air. Klavier began to freak out over increasingly minor things, and was unfortunately caught by the Doctor at the time and had his mind poked around in. This didn’t help the paranoia, but it eventually died down and over time Klavier came to forgive the Doctor for what had happened, understanding that everyone was affected by it. Soon after, items began mysteriously disappearing from the area, quickly followed by large chunks of the ground and planet itself. The stranded passengers had been contacted by Commander Orion, and they were able to convince him to bring down a rescue ship. Unfortunately this went awry and the shuttle arrived unmanned, with Orion lost on the wrecked Crucible. Klavier, like many others, went into the dangerous shipwreck to try and find the Commander, but without any luck. Much as he wanted off the planet, it wasn’t to be. The planet, which was being affected by the nearby blackhole, was soon destroyed by it and the cycle reset itself.

Being on the ship proper for the first time since he arrived, Klavier had to deal with not remembering what had happened after going looking for the Commander, as well as people having disappeared for good during the months he’d already been there. This was sobering, but he was distracted by the ship’s new Holodeck acting up, and found the randomly appearing gothic clothes and vampires pretty amusing. Again, Commander Orion contacted the ship, sending everyone on the hunt for a hidden code. Stranger things continued to happen, including a nightmare-inducing wall smear and having to cross through 1930s Chicago and a forest to find the engineering levels indicated in Orion’s hidden message. Klavier headed into all of these situations with the intent of getting to the bottom of the situation; having heard of the Captain’s suspicious death and seeing his body, he wasn’t willing to let the matter drop. Not to mention, he thought he looked pretty snazzy in a 1930s suit.

Things took a turn for the worse when the ship itself began to decay as it turned towards the black hole again and he was unable to sleep, even on the verge of exhaustion. At this point people became trapped in their own personal Bad Ends, and Klavier was no exception. Locked in a room with a manifestation of his brother Kristoph, Klavier was poisoned with atroquinine and died painfully, and it was only with Oliver Day’s help that he escaped going through the same cycle again once he revived. Talking about those events and his feelings with Oliver helped, and coupled with breaking out of the Bad End cycle on his own eventually lead Klavier to deal with some of the issues he’d been having with his brother for months, but hadn’t addressed. Sadly, the ship then got sucked into the black hole again, so this was a short-lived happy period.

The third cycle brought with it complete recall of all the events of the past two cycles, including the black holes. Having all this information at hand gave Klavier a bit more bearing on the situation, and he felt more like he could handle things and get to the bottom of it all. Things started to come to a head, with more levels of the ship opening up and the Captain surprisingly hosting a party with all the passengers on board. This seemed like a great chance to get some information from the supposedly dead man, so Klavier went. The dinner, naturally, went awry and the ship was thrown into lockdown as Commander Orion’s fleet arrived and started to fire on the Crucible. Klavier didn’t enjoy this much - in fact it really disturbed him. Soon after Orion made it on board the ship and it became a race against time to first stop the Captain, and then stop Orion when he went mad with rage, intending to kill the Captain for sending his fleet into the black hole. Just as Orion was about to kill the Captain, all of the passengers, Klavier included, appealed to his better nature. Klavier in particular said that while he understood how Orion must feel, that it was never right to resort to vengeance and murder, that that only perpetuated the cycle and that he should let the law handle it.

Thankfully, Orion’s hand was stayed, and the mysteries of the ship were solved. Klavier was able to go home through the gate, and gladly took the chance… along with a space guitar, because it was cool. When Klavier arrived back home, he remembered everything from his time on the ship. He would have been content to dismiss it all as a very long, complex dream, if not for the fact that he’d brought that guitar back with him and couldn’t explain that away easily. He kept it all to himself; he didn’t have any desire to have people (or the media) call him delusional, and mostly he was relieved to be home again where things made sense. Klavier threw himself straight back into prosecuting, monitoring the continued trials of the Jurist System as they happened. Whenever people commented on his slightly more down to Earth attitude or that strange glass guitar thing he’d hung up in his office, he laughed it off. He was never one to explain himself, anyway.

Personality: (From previous app) - Klavier’s attitude is not one that would normally be found in an experienced prosecutor. Klavier’s usual approach to everything is with confidence and a smile, even in such serious situations as a murder trial. He knows his facts and how to use them, which means he mostly keeps a level head and is difficult to rattle. This cavalier attitude extends to a habit of teasing people, giving them weird nicknames and poking fun at things like the size of their forehead. He does not come across as the most serious of people, tending more towards a flashy rock-styled performance than a straight statement of the facts. Many of his objections and statements in court come accompanied with an air-guitar, which he doesn’t think is ridiculous in the slightest. He also has an exaggerated German accent, throwing in random phrases for no discernable reason other than the fact that it’s cool.

Klavier is by no means perfect. There are times when he does lose his cool, usually when things go wrong. He’s been known to develop a real diva-like temper when his keys were stolen, or when a song performed was slightly off-key. He has a streak of perfectionism in him that can get badly aggravated at times like these. It’s understandable that he may freak out when his guitar catches fire on stage, but possibly less understandable when he seems more interested in finding the wrong note in a song than the killer of a dead man. However, Klavier usually has his priorities straight, in the end.

Despite all his flippancy and over-the-top behaviour, Klavier does have a strong desire to find the truth in all things. He takes his prosecuting job seriously, saying that his other occupation (that of being a rock star) is “just a hobby” compared to the law. He may not do much of the investigating himself but he’s maddeningly good at sorting out the facts of a case and shooting down inconsistencies. This extends even further when it becomes clear that the defendant might be innocent; instead of pushing for a guilty verdict, Klavier instead will turn around and work with the defense to find the truth. This can be difficult for him, and once was so bad that he was almost in physical pain over his feelings on the matter, but he will always push for the truth. He’s friendly and even helpful to Apollo Justice, a man who rightfully should be his opponent in court, because he believes in keeping things simple. And there is nothing more simple than wanting to find the truth.

Strengths: Klavier is exceptionally intelligent, having graduated from law school at seventeen. So while he acts like a bit of an airhead, he is really quite smart and knows his way around the legal system and common sense. He successfully handled two high-maintenance jobs for seven years - prosecution and being the lead singer of a rock band - without suffering for it or even seeming to lose time, so he has a fair bit of endurance and stamina (as far as normal people go, anyway). He has a good ear for music, good enough that he can tell when even the slightest note is off-key. Very skilled at playing the guitar, too. Personality wise, Klavier is extremely dedicated to finding the truth of the matter, to the extent that he’ll pursue even his own friends and family if they’re in the wrong. He doesn’t believe in complications, intending to keep a simple outlook on life.

Weaknesses: He’s an average person, and doesn’t have anything in the way of self-defence skills. So if he was attacked outright, he’d be pretty much useless at fending it off in any way that’s not panic-induced. He is occasionally vain, testy and careless, letting other people do the more tedious work for him. He is slightly perfectionist, especially with regards to his music, so he may lose his cool if something goes wrong in a way that he doesn’t like. Klavier also has minor issues with fire, due to that one time when his guitar kind of exploded while he was using it.

Sample:

Klavier woke up with an uncomfortable lurch. He rolled over, fumbling with his hand for the light switch; it shouldn’t be on at this time of night. When his fingers hit only empty air, he opened his eyes and froze. This wasn’t his room. And who was sitting next to his-

As soon as he started to speak, identifying himself as Admiral Orion Alexander Ganymede, Klavier sat up, ignoring the dizziness that followed. He’d had some dreams like this before - nightmares, if he wanted to be entirely honest with himself - but they weren’t usually this frank. He listened as intently as he could as Orion continued talking, only he couldn’t help letting his gaze wander the room once he realised Orion wasn’t really there. It was a recording. Instead, he took in his surroundings briefly. Well, it was familiar, but it wasn’t the same as the places he’d been before, so he could rule out a dream. Pulling his gaze back to Orion, he frowned as the man went on about missions. That was all well and good, and he understood that about the Gate, so why was he here again?

He couldn’t help the startled “What?!” he let out when the answer came. That thing had been stolen. ‘Annoyed’ didn’t begin to cover how he felt about that piece of news. After everything they’d gone through to figure out the problem and stop it from malfunctioning, someone had let it get whisked off from under the military’s noses. Pinching the bridge of his nose, Klavier waited somewhat patiently for the Admiral to finish. It was no good getting irritated before he had all the facts.

When the message had finished, Klavier crossed his arms and stared out the window into space. Whatever he chose, he was going to be stuck out here until the Gate was found regardless. The positives were that they knew who’d taken it, and they had a fleet. The negatives were that they didn’t know where the Gate had been taken, and… it was a military fleet. Klavier knew from experience that he wasn’t much good at fighting. Still, there was a mystery here, and there had to be a truth behind it. There must be a reason for these people to have stolen the Gate and use it - especially if they knew the consequences. And he knew for a fact that if he couldn’t look for this answer, he might face a very long time lost in another universe.

It was hardly a decision at all.

Klavier got to his feet and pressed the blue panel. “Herr Admiral, I wish I could say it’s nice to see you again, but you know how it goes.” He glanced out the window again and sighed, smiling to himself. “I guess the truth is out there somewhere, ja? I’ll help you find it. The Gate too. We can’t have another case of history repeating. Though really, it looks like it already is. I don’t know how much use I’ll be on a military spaceship… thing, but I’m sure there’ll be something, if you’re this forward.”

He paused for a moment, before adding a last remark. “But if we go anywhere near a black hole, I’m out. I don’t do encores.” And that was one encore he would avoid at all costs.
