Reccer's notes: I wanted to rec this story because of it's eerie, otherworldly tone and beautiful, epic use of language and also because it made me cry! Damn you minchout and your amazing writing.

One of the many things I admire and respect about Minchout's writing is it is so spare, and so bold. Each word precisely chosen, no extra. She runs lean, every word counts and with those words she paints such lovely pictures in your mind. Her world building and characterization is sublime and she can do in one sentence what it talks many of us pages to achieve. In all her stories you are always keenly aware of every nuance, every glance, or subtle exchange between her characters. A writer to be admired, and a wonderful story deserving to be read.

[Short excerpt]“It’s my sandbox,” Dean said to no one.

That day, he imagined a small house on the beach, and it was there for him. Inside, he hung posters, Led Zepplin and Metallica, and he stocked the fridge with all of Sam’s favorite foods - the fixings for lasagna, fresh produce, Caesar salad dressing, Hostess cupcakes. On his nightstand, he placed the photo of him and Sam as kids sitting with their father on the Impala’s hood. He had a king bed with room for both of them, even though he knew that Sam always wrapped himself around Dean as they slept, skin to skin, warm and flush, and they wouldn’t need the space.
