Summary: Jensen receives an unwelcome inheritance in the form of a pretty young body slave named Jared. Unable to free him and unwilling to use the person in his care despite his attraction to him, Jensen is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Jared, meanwhile, doesn't know what to make of his confusing new owner, who has yet to punish him despite his many mistakes and doesn't seem to want him in his bed.
Reccer's notes: This is a thoughtful and surprisingly tender examination of slavery. Jensen considers himself an abolitionist, disgusted by slavery to the point where he ignores it as much as he can, which actually jeopardizes Jared's health. Jared’s attempts to deal with his confusing new status as an unwanted body slave are heartbreaking.
[Short excerpt]That evening after serving Master Jensen his dinner and cleaning the kitchen Jared sat down in the hallway, just out of sight but well within earshot should his owner need something, as he'd been taught to do in the evenings when no one had any other use for him. Master Garth had a kneeling pad for him to use, placed in the corner of the living room, but there was nothing like that here (different now). He'd considered trying to make one of some scraps of material he'd found in a drawer but thought better of it. If Master Jensen wanted him to have something to kneel on, he'd have taken care of it already.
