Reccer's notes: I like this pairing a great deal, and this is a wonderfully convincing and complicated Kevin POV, from his physical perceptions of Sam to the mixture of bitterness, adolescent dazzlement, and an almost reluctantly mature compassion with which he views a Sam who is at once a heroic figure to him and someone who has badly let him down. But what makes this fic for me is its portrait of a post-8.23 Sam who is still stubbornly himself in his strengths and flaws: angry as well as self-loathing, resigned as well as rebellious, making the space he needs for himself but also looking out of himself and still capable of finding hope and the resilience to go on. This was one of my favorite springflings.
