Summary: A year after Sherlock Holmes's death John Watson returns to 221B Baker Street hoping to turn a new leaf. He finds that a new stranger has come to town-while John was gone Sam Winchester moved in to the flat below. John's interest is piqued, but he isn't the only one curious in the household. Both men are trying to come to terms with their past, but as is often the case the past refuses to stay away. Sam and John are taken on a journey where adventures and revelations are going to put new and old relationships to test.

Reccer's notes: I've seen a number of fans discuss Sam's social isolation, but I've read few fics that address the issue by tracing Sam developing a friendship. This crossover, which goes AU from s8 after Citizen Fang, offers a slow, convincing build between Sam and John Watson. The two eventually develop a surprisingly honest and workable relationship, while Sam tentatively explores a different compromise between hunting and stability. One thing that interests me here is Sam processing (with imperfect self-knowledge) the challenge Benny has posed to his relationship with Dean while himself expanding into an independent friendship. There is also interesting plot developing in both universes. I don't read many crossovers, but this one has me hooked.
