Goodness Foodness

Today is a happy day! Managed to drag the bestie out of bed for a very satisfying breakfast at Maison Kayser, (second breakfast actually, after my yummy double chocolate muffin from chocolate and spice in the morning) We reached at 10+ and it was almost full house! But I can see what all the hype is about - their breads are unlike any other I've ever tasted.

We shared a crossaint breakfast set that came with coffee and an apple pie, plus this yuzu flavoured bread. The crossaint was sooooooo buttery and awesome!! Apple pie was made from the same kind of pastry so it tasted pretty darn good too. And the yuzu bread was so soft and moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside - thinking about them makes me salivate. Ordered the seigle cranberry to go (dabao for ys but I ended up eating half of it) and it was so chock full of tangy cranberry goodness, we're NEVER going to have the breadtalk version again cos it just doesn't come close.

My awesome brekkie date :D Who had to leave for training at 1pm, which is siao, not to mention heatstroke inducing.

Thereafter I went shopping around town, bought a pair of comfy black flats in preparation for electives (yayy can match everything and anything) and met up with ys before leaving for an early dinner at Ah Loy Thai... only to find the WE ARE CLOSED tag hanging at their waiting area and a very grumpy uncle turning people away saying that there wasn't enough food to serve. Deciding that I've had ENOUGH of this closed-at-6.30 business, I proceeded to whine to the uncle that we've been here FOUR FREAKING TIMES, each successive time 10 minutes earlier than the previous and we've never. gotten. a. seat. (and shaw towers isn't exactly the most convenient of places to get to. PLUS the fact that YS and I had brisked walked all the way from Bugis - this was too upsetting) PHWOARRR! Enter next bout of happiness for the day: the uncle cast one look at me and then, sighing, said "okay wait wait you queue here" and TADAAA this was how we managed to wrangle ourselves the last seats in the house. HOORAYYYY. And I finally got to taste the magic that is ahloy thai. The butter calamari is omg so sinful but to-die-for!! I would have slurped up the oily butter sauce (like a CYS) if I hadn't also eaten 4 other fried, absolutely fattening dishes in the same sitting. We were so stuffed at the end of the meal that we couldn't even stomach the idea of Tom Palette's ice cream. Sighhh.

Butter calamari (top dish) zomg am reliving the taste this very moment. The other dish is mango chicken, which I didn't really fancy but was YS's next favourite after the butter calamari.

Manslave serving me tomyam soup. The one we had in BKK was probably a thousand times spicier, but this was good nevertheless! And kinder to the pain receptors on our tongue.

We made a clean sweep of EVERYTHING. Like Pigs.

Then YS came over to my place and we watched a very disappointing match between Man U and Liverpool before he caught the last train back to ulu-land. Could do with more Saturdays like these! To nua around and grow fat. Gotta enjoy it while it lasts - can't believe the era of long breaks and holidays are coming to an end soon sigh.
