HK pics + more of holidays

May 28, 2011 00:52

Through with 3 weeks of holidays and I can't fight this nagging feeling that I haven't accomplished much, be it in terms of work or play. Okay there is the attachment commencing in 2 weeks' time but this still leaves me feeling grossly underachieved in the fun and leisure component. Hrm really should have done some proper planning and budgeting for a longer, more chillax holiday overseas. Oh well. Next time!

It's still not too late though, 2 more weeks I can fill with activities. Need kakis for the following activities!
1) Rock Climbing (this is happening NO MATTER WHAT, girls)
2) Kayaking (expedition?)
3) Paintball!
4) Red Star Dim Sum
5) Bargain hunting at Bugis Village because I haven't been there in a kazillion years
6) Southern Ridges Run

Moping aside, have been doing a lot of reflecting this hols due to all the time I have on my hands, and one of the things I've concluded is that I'll need to regain the niceness that I'd somehow lost amidst the competitive climate in yr3. Can't recall the last time I felt good after going the extra mile to make the day of people who matter. For the most part of the (academic) year I've been nothing more than civil to most of my friends, putting in more effort for the few whom I hold closer, but nearly never my 100% as would have occurred to me naturally in the past. Truth be told it's not a very pleasant realization, and I hope to do better as a friend starting from this hols, and start the brand new school year on a happier note :)

Oh yes, and as promised, HK photos! I only have a miserable few in my camera, the rest were taken on YS's cam and have been uploaded on FB.

Touched down somewhere near lunchtime and this was our first meal - AWESOME dim sum available at practically any restaurant along the street. Prices are awesome too - we had these + a couple more dishes and it only cost HKD320 (SGD 50 plus) for 6 of us. In HK it's common practice to provide a bowl/ cup of hot water that is not meant for consumption but for you to wash your utensils in, so in case you guys, like me, have been clueless till now - you now know how NOT to earn a incredulous stare from the nearest waiter.

Headed up to the peak later, which was a rather  wasted trip because it was too foggy to see anything. I have this video of YS attempting to stand on the tram while it was on its steep (70degree?) descent, holding on to nothing and at one point nearly parallel to the incline of the slope but I'm too lazy to figure out how to upload it from my phone and anyway he stopped after a few seconds cos the other passengers were gawking haha.

Avenue of the stars at night, to catch the laser lights show that I've never seen before on my previous trips. It was super lame hahaha we couldn't believe we rushed there to see it at 8pm. Lots of tourists from the mainland, the crowd killed our mood a little and we decided not to proceed further down where all the famous handprints were located.

Dinner at Tsui Wah, where they ushered our party into this cozy cubicle thingy. Ordered so much food that the dishes couldn't all fit on the tiny table. That drink you see is their innovative Champagne Milk Tea, which looked really interesting but tasted like normal milk tea. Sis said there was a slight fizz though. The food they served was really good! Was famished, hence we tucked in almost immediately and I don't have many nice photos of them before we launched our assault. We went back the next night cos we couldn't get enough of the Condensed Milk Bun and the Pork Rib noodles!

Ocean park the next day! Had a mad bout of sneezing that gave me a headache so I took one ride and that was it for me. Only 1 photo to upload - spot the BF (clue: look for the most terrified face. Or rather mop of hair, cos you can't see his face because he was trying very, very hard to hide his fear) HAHA never seen anyone riding the Viking permanently stuck in 1 pose.

This is where I got lazy... and stopped taking photos. Not much to take anyway, because we spent the next days combing the shopping districts. Next trip to HK won't be anytime soon, probably when I need to satisfy my craving for authentic HK foodfare!
