Seeing Les Miserables and loving it at the weekend got me to thinking about other movies I like based on musicals, or plays and I realised how many of them there are, and the differences in seeing them.
I definitely prefer seeing the musical on stage, the energy is obviously completely different. Sadly, it's not something I have the opportunity to do much anymore.
Tae loves watching 'singing movies' with me on DVD, she mostly loves singing along and is word perfect to The Sound Of Music, and will always dance along to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Rock Of Ages made me want to see the musical, and got me looking into the music.
I will always adore Rent, and will see it at every possible opportunity in any guise. Ditto for Phantom Of The Opera.
Mamma Mia is always good for when I need cheering up, as is Hairspray.
I wonder if I ought to start calling myself a musical theatre geek? Any recommendations for others I may enjoy?
