MERRY CHRISTMAS, LIVEJOURNAL COMPADRES!!!!
Man, I feel like I should have a Lady GaGa icon now. I've been carrying The Fame: Monster around in my purse/car/the backpack I haul my crap around the house in since I got it last week. And listening to it, of course. She's awesome. I wish her tour wasn't all sold out or I'd try and see her in Chicago next month. At least I'm pretty sure it's sold out, because Ticketmaster refused to show me any tickets for it. Fail!
I can so hear Lady G's Noo Yawk accent when she sings. Both Christy and a stranger told me she's from Yonkers when I was there last month, but Wikipedia insists she was born in Manhattan. OH NO WHICH IS TRUE. I don't really care. I just thought it a strange thing to be informed of.
GUESS WHAT. I GOT MY GRADES BACK.
AND I AM AN OFFICIAL 100% GRADUATE. I was seriously worried that Dr. J would opt to fail me because he's proven himself to be Kind Of A Dick. But no!
HE GAVE ME AN A. WHAT.
After all the drama with the paper failure and his tests and whatever, I get an A?! That doesn't seem POSSIBLE. Not that I'm complaining... I'm just confused as all fuck.
So my grades run:
- 19th C. Women's Lit: A
- World Civilizations I: A
- Advanced Poetry Studio (Redux): B
- Floral Design: B
Dave was so nice to give me a B even though my average only added up to a 79%. He wasn't even nitpicky about it--I've had professors who insist upon giving minus grades and plus grades to prove their dicks are bigger than mine. So that's awesome!
Miles' B pisses me off, though. I think he did it just to re-re-reinforce his newfound absence policy and to be a jerk. I was late a lot, it's true, but MY PRESENTATION AND PORTFOLIO WERE BOTH ABSOLUTELY FUCKING FLAWLESSLY PERFECT. He'd better have failed half the class, then, because half the class did not deserve anything better. Fuck those bitches. I am amazing. But hey, if it was a choice between seeing the Manic Street Preachers and getting an A in my final poetry studio, then the Manix win every time.
And I expected the A in World Civ because the tests were both really easy, even with my super-half-assed studying. Score! Literally.
That is a huge weight off my mind. I suppose I'll be getting my diploma next month after all. Excellent!
So it's Christmas and Omaha is being snowed the fuck in. We already bought provisions for it, and anyway, the snow removal system here is such that they never fucking close shit for more than a day now because they salt and clear the roads fairly fast. It's just the residential areas that suck and also having to shovel one's drive and salt one's sidewalks. STILL. THIS IS A LOT OF FUCKING SNOW. SHUT UP, WINTER. I will trade a white Christmas for a brisk-but-less-oppressive Christmas any year now. I didn't used to think so, but seriously, Nebraska has crushed my snow love.
Sibling and I went out to Borders last night to stave off cabin fever since it wasn't snowing yet, just icy, and we got Mom and Dad a few more books for Christmas. I've already stuffed everyone's stocking and mine has stuff in it, too. Mom, Smeg and I opened gifts earlier--I gave Smeg a quartet of H20+ brand lotions that she likes and we gave Mom two sets of cotton pajamas. She loves her some pajamas! My gift was Scrabble Scramble To Go! which is like Scrabble in a can. So Yachtzee with words. The little mini-board is vinyl and it smells like petrochemicals, and the letters are on dice. It delights me because I'm obsessed with Scrabble even though I never beat Chesh at it.
Aaaand yeah, that's our house. Today is also Dad's 59th birthday. I went to Cheesecake Factory on Tuesday night and got him a slice of the red velvet cheesecake that he thought was totes decadent-sounding, but refused to order when we were there on my gradubirthday. Bitches will all eat cheesecake! I got Mom and Smeg and me pieces of cheesecake, too, because it's Christmas and we have addictions to feed.
So yeah, I hope y'all get something kewl for Christmas and that only good things happen to you! Stay well and take care. Eat some cookies or something.
