First things first: Ta-Dah, the sophomore effort of NYC band Scissor Sisters, IS FUCKING FANTASTIC OMG WTF SO GOOD. H8rs b3 d4mn3d. This shit rocks. I have been listening to it since I bought it on Tuesday and I REALLY WANT to fuck off to Minneapolis next Saturday to see them live because that's the closest they're coming to my area. But I can't. So I'll just keep dancing to them in public and yelling out the words to "Kiss You Off" which is totally my favorite song, closely followed by "She's My Man," "The Other Side," and "Ooh." ANA MATRONIC MAKES ME HAPPY.
KISS YOU OFF MY LIPS IT'S STANDIN' ROOM ONLY FOR A PIECE OF MY PIGMENT!
SO EXCUUUSE ME A MINUTE WHILE I SUPPLY DEMAAAAAAAAAND!!
Seriously. Fucking genius. I love this shit. It's so great. I brought it to the student center and even though Hannah, our own pocket-sized lesbian, was anti-SS, I snuck it on while she wasn't looking and Dessy and I jumped up and down and YELLED the chorus. There's only ever, like, 5 or 10 people in the lounge that aren't part of our group, and they were pretty catatonic. And then Hannah was going to pwn me so we couldn't turn the room into a giant disco. It made me sad. IT'S WHY I AIN'T JUST KISSIN' YOU I'M KISSIN' YOU OFF!!!!!11
As Chesh said, Scissor Sisters detractors have no soul. =( How can you h8? Free the drag queen in your heart!!
Other songs I've been into are "Down On The Corner" by Johnny Marr & The Healers (yeah, still! Johnny Marr fucking rocks and I only heard one song, but he was all kind to wittle Bernard and Bernard is obsessed with him and he's not morrissey and and and he's just so cute and good), "The Passenger" by Iggy Pop (such great guitar! I love the la la LA LA lalalaLA. I can get behind lalalas. I really love them, as pretty much anyone who's heard me sing Suede or Kylie can attest), "Knights Of Cydonia" by Muse (still obsessed with them, yes, but they've been put aside for SCISSOR SISTERS this week I WANT TO SEE THEM IN CONCERT AGAIN even if I die in the mosh pit GOD IT WAS FOR THE WIN i love my Muse t-shirt MUSE!!), and not very much Suede, which is really sad, because it is... well, WAS, on the 29th September, Brett Anderson's 39th birthday. The first thing I did when I came online 20 minutes ago was go to his forum and post on a birthday thread for him BECAUSE I'M LAME. There's no need to pretend - this is just the way I am. But I gotta get back into Suede. Been listening to Bernard Butler a lot - especially this b-side, "More Than I Thought." It's a sweet song.
So the internet's been a piece of crapola and I haven't been on as much and I miss talking to the Scones and my Cheth and commenting on entries. Smeg and I have been working our way through Prince Of Persia III and we're almost through. I've got 2/3 of my hooded vest done. Well, more like half. I still have the hood and the left piece and the seams to do. It'll be fantastic. I got all the homework I needed to complete finished despite my complaining, I got through my monologue today, and I have reserved seats to see Man Of LaMancha next Friday night at 7:30 PM so I can write a critique for theatre. I have my first astronomy exam on Monday and my first theatre exam on Wednesday and let us pray I'm not talking out of my ass and can retain enough to do well on them.
I actually went with Smeg and Dessy to Neale Woods observatory today, which is north of the city and by the river. It was for a ... a thing. Presentation? I don't know. Basically, it was extra credit for astronomy if I went, signed in, paid the fare and looked at stuff through telescopes, but it was too cloudy so we sat through a 15-minute lecture given by the guy who is the physics lab teacher at UNO. He said, "Well, we WOULD have seen this. We were GOING to look at that, but we can't. Umm, here's some other nights we do this shit if you wanna try your luck." I still get credit for attending, I think, as brief as it was, and I may go again just because I was hoping to look at the stars and get paranoid and scared of outer space, as you do.
The drive UP to Neale Woods was creepy as fucking shit - bunch of two-lane roads bordered by trees with lots of curves and the river was off to one side and we passed Hummel Park, which is a supposedly 'haunted' park, but lately bodies have been found there and I'm alone in my room so I'm not even gonna talk about it anymore! It was just a freaky drive and we were joking about slasher movies and shit.
So of course, when we left the truncated observatory session, Smeg dropped Dessy and me off to eat dinner at Village Inn, then picked us up and we went home to watch half of
Poltergeist III (lame as fuck, though I love The Little Psychic Lady who shows up in Tons Of Scary 1980s Movies (Zelda Rubinstein) and am sad/weirded out by the fact that the girl who played Carol Ann died shortly after filming wrapped), followed by
The Innocents (fucked up shit, man, but kind of a weird plot AND A BAD ENDING that didn't tie up all the knots! We think it was kind of the baseline for the creepy kid psycho movies, though), and
The Other, which was disjointed and ridiculous, but Dessy and I sat through to the stupid unfinished ending even after Smeg gave up and went to bed. It wasn't worth sitting through, but we did anyway.
So now I'm a little creeped out, even though I'm tired, it's nearing 4 AM, Dessy's one room away, Smeg's across the hall, Jack's on my bed, and my parents are down the hall. I just hate being all freaked out! Dessy offered to stay and chat with me and I should've taken her up on it, but she was so tired she was getting incoherent. I'll be okay.
BLAH BLAH BLAH why is this window still open?? What did I have to say?? So I'm watching an early clip of
Suede doing "He's Dead" and specifically the sexy gyrations and microphone waving of a young, shaggy-haired Brett Anderson. AND A REALLY CUTE POCKET-SIZED BERNARD BUTLER IN A TINY WITTLE SHIRT ALL SHAKING AROUND PLAYING GUITAR SO CUTE AHHHH.
Durp. We're supposed to go to the Joslyn tomorrow because, well, we haven't been in a while and especially because Dessy's doing the projects for Native American lit and so she needs to check out their artz0r collection. We wanted to look at some other shit, too, and if we don't spend too long there, we'll head over to this garden xtravaganza that Smeg and Mom wanted to attend, because PLANTS!
The thought of heading that far east makes me itch to go to the downtown Homers and buy music I can't afford, but it's doubtful I'd even find anyt..h..in.g.... EXCEPT MAYBE THE MUSE DVD OMGZ WTF. OR A ... T...SHIRT...OF SOME THING... THAT I LIKE. WORDS. :O~~
So tired. I'll let this go now. Night!
