Don't dream it's over

Crap. Today's the last day of my mini-vacation. And I had to get up at 7am after having gone to bed at 2:30am watching Anne of Green Gables with dreago. Did the contractor show up? Why no, he didn't. And this is after he disappeared on Friday. Why are contractors like this? He got here just after 9am on Friday, did a few things, disappeared for 2 hours to get a hose adaptor (there are 3 hardware stores and a Home Depot within 10 minutes of here), came back and prepared to powerwash the porch, I went to the grocery store for an hour and a half and when I returned at 2:40 he was gone. *sigh* Supposedly he's coming to finish tomorrow and I told his supervisor to remind him to leave the keys and my parking pass which he took with him on Friday.

Most of Thursday through Saturday was spent preparing for the party. Once again, the deviled eggs and salsa were wildly popular as was the vodka slush I made. We did break out the corn dog/s'mores makers which were very successful. I'd never deep fried anything before. I was glad I'd bought the mini-dogs because I didn't have enough oil to fill the pot for a normal size one. Now I guess I know why they sell those enormous jugs of cooking oil. Overall it wasn't a huge party (16 people) but I think it was pretty fun. At the end of the night it was just Liz, Alex, Ron and I. After it came up in conversation I ended up pulling out one of my videotapes from my local PA cable access - the 1990 Boyertown Promenade of Seniors. This is, no lie, two hours of 'this is so-and-so and their date so-and-so' *walkwalkwalkwalk* repeated to infinity. Within one minute my friends were hooked and much hilarity ensued.

Ron and I continued talking after the others left. I am no longer allowed to talk to him after 2am unless we stick to safe, impersonal subjects. My boundaries are way too low at that time of night. He finally left and I went to be around 4:30am which means I slept till noon. I probably could've slept later but I wanted to run to the mall to use a coupon that was expiring - hey, it was $15 off a purchase of $15 or more so it was like free money. On the way home I remembered (thank goodness) that it was my grandmother's birthday so I had to call and talk to them.

Very tired now. Too little sleep. Too much junk food. I can't remember when I last had an actual meal. I think it's time for me to go retire to the recliner with a book.
