Pointless wondering

So, as usual, I've been trying to clear out the tivo and have therefore been watching movies every night this week. And I have to wonder what it is about British movies from the late '60s and wigs. Were wigs really that popular then? I watched Modesty Blaise and there were so many wigs and costume changes I had a hard time keeping the characters straight. There was also a completely bizarre musical interlude where a car pulled over to the side of the road, it's occupants sang a song, then continued driving.

Anyway, with all the wigs and weirdness, I couldn't help but compare it with The Touchables. Some of you I may have forced to watch this movie and some others will recall the movie poster on the purple wall in my hallway. The one thing these two movies have in common (other than the late '60s British thing) is that I have very little idea what the fuck is going on in them. You just have to sit back and look at the pretty. Let's put it this way, the tv guide description that led me to tape The Touchables was pretty much "four mod London girls kidnap a singing idol." What they neglect to mention is that, after they kidnap him, they take him out to the woods where they live in a giant plastic bubble and take turns with him. I can only imagine how great this would have been had it not been the censored-for-tv version. However, I still don't think it would have made any sense.
