best summer ever?

It's true. Even before the end of this month, summer 2006 will have been the best summer so far.

Originally I was supposed to go on the Spiritual Rez east coast tour. Ben kept me in Boston for the first week to help book more shows and radio performances in the Florida area since they would be there the longest out of all the states traveled. I was supposed to fly to Florida to meet up with the band and act as tour manager from there back up to Boston. Turned out the band was doing very well on there own in both booking shows along the way and selling merch after they played each night. If I were to have gone, I would have used a couple hundred dollars just to get to them and then add in the cost of food and shelter for the additional person (that would be me), and making a ten person trip into 11... It just didn't work out. I was bummed. Really bummed. I subletted my apartment in Boston, it was too late to sign up for classes and I was already replaced at BMW/Porsche for the summer months. I had NOTHING in Boston. But then I realized I had EVERYTHING in Boston! Aside from a place to call my own

Turned out, this summer, almost all of my best friends in Boston decided to stick around! Most of them recently graduated and are using this summer as a transition. working full or parttime, thinking of what they want to do with the rest of their lives, and in the meantime, party harder than ever before! I was never into the party scene these past 4 years in Boston. Every once and a while I'd go to Highgate where most of Spiritual Rez reside. afterparties for rez and september twilight were always a good time. But this summer, the concerts, parties, road trips and everything else life has dished out these past few months has been better than any period of time in my life. So yeah, I don't have a job, rent to pay or classes to dred. I can't say that hasn't helped! lol. But if you ask anyone of my good friends about this summer, they'll agree it's been amazing. It's been a time for building relationships. I've made more new friends this summer than I've had for the past 4 years in Boston. and a few of the older friendships have been growing stronger while others grow further apart. that's life.

The last week of this month is straight up "live music week" in beantown. Monday through Friday, every single night there's a really great concert! I'm involved on the business end of 4 out of the 5 nights, including performing wednesday night. I never expected to get so involved with the music scene, but I'm having a great time and it's only getting better. It's all about friendships. I don't mean to sound all sappy, but it's true! no matter what you're involved in. work or play. it's all about good friends and the stories you can tell from time spent with them.

Tiny said it best at Erin's going away party/best party ever- "I love it. All my friends are rockstars!" (he's not just sayin it to sound cool. we happen to be lucky enough to be in great bands and are friends with the best rock n roll in boston. A rock revolution in progress.)
