Anime Review: Darker Than Black-Ryuusei No Gemini
First of all let me apologize for not writing as often as I should on this journal. School has got me busy and I'm really trying to balance everything out.
But lets start off with this Anime review.
Darker Than Black-Ryuusei No Gemini
Coming off a really good first season. The powers to be decided to make a second season. Unlike the first season, this second season only consists of 13 episodes. Well really after watching this season it was more of a side story using the same characters than a actual sequal.
There was an inconsistency with the character named Mao, who originally looked like he died in the first season. But you know how some anime go, they can magically come back to life due to some loop hole.
The story does not revolve around the Hei, rather it surrounds around a Russian Contractor named Suo Pavlichenko. Without divulging much into the story. Suo is being hunted by a "evil" organization while at the same time trying to find her twin brother Shion. As by Fate, Suo would meet Hei and both would be helping each other out on their journey to find out the truth.
You will see a lot of familiar faces sprinkled along the sea of many new faces in this season.
Now here's what I think about the anime. This is a good anime, if you consider it its own anime instead of a sequel. You have some good action sequences, but the story was pretty much lacking. I think they tried to condense too much of the story into 13 episodes. If they extended it just a little bit, everything could've played out better. I was pretty disappointed with the last episode many because they tried to tie up everything in the last ending credits. It could've been better with more explanation, fight scenes and conversations.
The main character's contract involves a really big gun. Now the gun is formed when the gun comes out of Suo's body which seemed too much like a Sailor Moon sequence. It would be way easier if the particles actually formed quicker like most of the contract powers were in the previous season.
All in all its a good watch, just be careful of the last episode.
