.: Updates
Work Stuff:
I've been plugging away fleshing out a lot of the core RPG functionality into our ALIENS RPG. The game is looking phenomenal. I really wish I could post screenshots of what we've accomplished, but of course.. I cannot. As soon as I'm able to post/talk about what we've got I will. But for now, you'll have to take my word on it.
We moved into a new office at the Irvine, California Spectrum. While walking this morning to get Starbucks in the giant outdoor mall across the street I had the realization that there are *indeed* much worse places to be working in America :D (just kidding, I <3 Obsidian!)
We always have 3 projects in the works here these days, and I'm excited about all of them. That's a pretty great place for a Junior Programmer to be in. I never had to make "Barbie's Horse Adventures" or "Fucking Kim-possible" (as a colleague at E3 called it once). I'm definitely blessed.
Life Stuff:
My major new-years resolution was to be more fiscally responsible. I always have like 1k-2k in credit card debt and have this nasty habit of "forgetting" about my student loans (if you act like they don't exist, then they don't, right?). And instead of banking my extra cash, I always spend it on fun things I really don't need.
As of today, I've paid off 2 of my credit cards (300 and 500 dollar limits respectively) and will be paying off a third by this weekend (500 limit again). That'll leave me with a small debt of about 800 dollars to pay to be completely credit-card less. The only debt remaining will be student loans and my car loan, which are now both up to date and on time (thanks mint.com!).
My girlfriend is still totally rad, and she bought me the coolest christmas gift ever! It's an approx. 9" Shadow Lord statue from Final Fantasy XI (imported from Japan). I've wanted one since it was announced! It keeps me company on my desk and scares off any evil producers and designers who come to distract me. =]
Final Fantasy XI Stuff:
Yes, the game is that important it gets his own bullet point. Nothing of major importance has happened recently, but a lot since I last mentioned the game. I've begun undertaking a Mythic Weapon quest, which is a long-term commitment to a series of quests that give you a very rare weapon for your class. It's a lot like the "Relic Weapons" in terms of rarity (as few as 13 known relic axe's across ALL servers/players/continents). I will be upgrading the Summoner staff, the "Nirvana" and am approx. 30-40% through the quest. I've been doing a lot of Nyzul Isle with my awesome static. We hit floor 100 last year and have been farming items. I've got Denali Jacket, Kecks, Gamashes and Goliard Trews so far. Another requirement is Einherjar, which I do twice a week. I got Wyrmal Abj: Body, but I'm sadly saving it to HQ it (leveling alchemy on my mule) so that'll be unused for some time. In a strange turn of events, I won an Aquarian Body Abj last Odin, but passed it to the 2nd place guy who actually has RDM leveled. If I ever get it towards 75 I'll lot the next one, for sure. I've also gotten 4/5 Corsair relic armor (just missing the boots from Bastok). I log in for events as much as I can, which means I do Nyzul, Dynamis, Einherjar and sometimes Limbus. My work schedule keeps me from doing casual things like leveling, which sucks, because I'd love to level my SCH and RDM subs with Ashley... (she's almost BRD20 by the way).
I'll try and update status of my Mythic Weapon when I hit milestones for my own enjoyment, in case anyone is curious how long the full quest will take.
