July, Aliens, Wizards, and the Better Business Bureau

Work has been going really well. My project has been officially announced. I'm working on Neverwinter Nights 2: Storms of Zehir. Our game goes to alpha this week, and will be shipped by the end of the year. I'm working really hard on it, often spending as many as 15 hours a day at the office. It's really rewarding though, as I'll be getting my name on a shipped title within the first year of joining the industry and I'll be moving to an already-in-development team to do some work (It'd be awesome to work on Aliens RPG or Alpha Protocol) and/or starting a new unannounced project; depending on the timing.

Miss Amber and I are doing quite well at our new place in Laguna Hills. Unfortunately we still don't have any of our stuff yet (picture of Amber and friend Martine). The moving company gave me a quote of 2300 to ship our stuff out, which I gave a 800 dollar deposit. Once they picked up our stuff, they tacked on an additional 1000 dollars. When I emailed the original guy he said the contracted moving company would take care of it. He has ignored my emails ever since. The moving company which was contracted told me that I've gone over the weight limit (bullshit since I don't have ANY furniture) and all I could do was contact the original guy. He's ignored 3 emails and I called the moving company this morning and gotten no reply as of 4:30 PST. Ridiculous. They were also supposed to deliver it prior to the 4th of July. They have all my stuff, they're demanding more money, and they won't even tell me when they are delivering it. I'm getting rather frustrated and will be reporting both companies involved to the BBB and consumerist as soon as I get my stuff.

I've made a few awesome friends and gone on a few really awesome dates since being out here, so life is starting to feel a bit less lonely. (Picture above is Chris Martin and I: I lived with him off craigslist when I first moved out). I miss my dogs like crazy, but bringing them out right now isn't the best idea if they're going to be home alone for 15 hours a day. Once the office moves to our new location, I'll be 4 miles from my house and can run home and let them out. That's just not possible with my current situation. Colin (going to law school in San Diego) and Charlie (got a job in L.A.) are both moving within the month. It'll be awesome to have them both nearby to hang out on weekends. Sister and I are hoping to get all this moving stuff squared away and take a few trips. We'd like to see Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco and maybe even Arizona. Just have to get through this crap first.
