I have no time to do anything and yet here I go posting a rant on my lj...
One thing that has become more and more of a pet peeve to me: when people talk badly about an organization I am a part of.
One may think that this is because of the time and effort I have invested into the organization, and this is true to an extent. Other than that, though, the people who talk badly about these organizations usually have no concept as to how much time and effort is afforded to the club/group. They are generally talking trash based on gossip they have heard, misconceptions they have based on blinded observation, or just plain ignorance. When you have been involved in a group and tried to make it a success, then and only then may you talk about the faults and shortcomings of the group to other people who are also involved in the group. If you are truly trying to make the group a success, your talk will include ideas to improve those areas in which improvement is necessary. If you are not in the above category, then you have no right to talk of something of which you know nothing, or only very little of, especially to others who don't know otherwise about what you are saying. If you do, there is a great possibility that you will be involved in slander. This is not good and upsets the people who are involved in the group you are talking about because they will eventually hear of what you have said. Guaranteed. People gossip. It's a fact.
What's more upsetting is when these people who talk trash about a group without knowledge of its struggles, improvements, and success are adults. It's a horrible feeling when you want to bash the heads of people the same age as your parents because they have insulted you and a part of what you stand for very strongly. It's very depressing when people much older than you show less signs of intelligence than the person you were when you were five.
Anyway, fifteen more days... I don't want to leave.
