the starflyer 59 concert was unbelievable, for good and bad reasons. my parents didn't take me, a plus. i went with alaina, sara, and her friends, including crystal the park ranger! ok, anyways. we were the first in the door so we got chairs to sit in. excellent. the working title played first. never heard of them, but surprised me. they were good. so was the statistics. i've downloaded a couple of songs by them off the internet so i knew a little about them beforehand. i knew dave, this guy i met off friendster, was going to the concert tonight, so i kept an eye on him, but never saw him. then when i got home tonight...
mediocre dave: i soooo saw you at starflyer tonight.
my name is zeb: what did you do tonight?
my name is zeb: YOU DID?!
my name is zeb: why didn't you say hello?
mediocre dave: hahaha
mediocre dave: yeah
mediocre dave: i don't know
mediocre dave: it would've been weird, and you were sitting down kinda in the middle, i don't know
mediocre dave: i was to your left about 10 feet.
my name is zeb: gggrrrr. i was looking for you.
my name is zeb: no, it wouldn't.
my name is zeb: i was going to say hi to you if i found you.
mediocre dave: haha
mediocre dave: i would've wanted you to
i will met him in person one day. oh, yes. i will.
then paperback (aka david bazan of pedro the lion) came on. i was all psyched. after his second song, he started cursing like there was no tomorrow. i was in shock. then he said, "i'm glad this place doesn't allow christian bands to play here." i was like, "huh?" i took this as a personal offense to me. okay, first of all - i grew up listening to pedro. i looked up to david enormously. i could tell through his lyrics he was a strong christian, but was struggling with things. he presented it in a way that told people, "hey, just because you're a christian doesn't mean life is perfect," which i loved because i felt the same way and no other christian music "told it like it is." it's fine with me if he said all that stuff, i just want him to make sure people don't think he's a christian anymore because he was absolutely misrepresenting a christian and that's why i don't like to say i'm a christian because i know too many people out there who think every christian is a hypocrite because of the ones they've met before. arrrr.... but at least sf59 played after him. that put me in a good mood in no time. they were perfect. not only did they play "no new kinda story," but right after that they played "i drive a lot," my two favorite songs by them!! that made me really really happy. i still have a headache from all the smoke there, but everything that's happened is worth seeing them play live.
