Marisa and I went back down to the Prospect Park Bandshell last night to see the Dead Weather with Maggie and Kyle. The Dead Weather is probably my least favorite of Jack White's bands, but I like a lot of their songs, especially from Sea of Cowards, and dig their swampy blues sound, even/especially when the songs sound like they were written and

I wish the Williamsburg Waterfront was Bowery Presents. They get good shows but their prices are just over the line into ripoff territory. That (and Inception) are why I didn't want to see Weezer or Modest Mouse there, either. How can you charge a facility fee? THERE IS NO FACILITY! It's a park!

Well, the "facility fee" is only a buck and could conceivably go to upkeep of the park, while the $10+ in convenience fees is pure AEG/Ticketmaster BS gravy. However: I must admit that if Bowery Presents was putting on these shows for, say, $45 with $5 in fees, I probably wouldn't complain as much ($45 for B&S or Pavement doesn't seem that far out of range, sadly), yet I'm paying the same if it's $38.50 + $11 in fees... so I'm not sure if it makes that much of a difference in the end.

I do remember a time when $50 was the most I'd ever paid for a concert, and certainly not something I'd pay three or four times a year.

yeah, it's the exorbitant fees that bother me -- a lot more than semi-exorbitant ticket prices do.

i understand your pavement waffling (mmm waffling) but i think you should go! it's pavement playing in your neighborhood.
