Is there anything more wretched than to just have caught one sight?

Becky, Derrick, and Chris are all on their way back to Boston by now, and Meg will be back in Jersey soon. The weekend of company is over; the Jarvis Cocker grand finale was last night. (Becky and Meg should clearly post their pictures in their respective LJs.)

This probably falls under the category of "anyone who cares was there," but based on very similar recent setlists I was able to piece together a reasonable facsimile of ours. He played two B-sides from the "Don't Let Him Waste Your Time" single(s) (you know, England, tons of singles) that I hadn't heard before. At least one of them sounded like it should've made the album.

Fat Children
Don't Let Him Waste Your Time
Heavy Weather
One Man Show
I Will Kill Again
From Auschwitz to Ipswich
Tonite
Big Julie
Disney Time
Big Stuff
Black Magic
---
Cunts Are Still Running the World
State Trooper (Springsteen cover)

At the Sunday night show, Jarvis played his cover of "Heaven" by the Talking Heads (as he has been doing frequently), and as much as I wanted to hear it, I have to say who cares because apparently he *didn't* play "Black Magic" which was the unquestionable highlight of the show we saw. I really like about half of his solo album (despite some dodgy lyrics) and he made up the difference through showmanship. I couldn't tell you what any of his band looked like because they just hung back and let Jarvis point and shake. Webster Hall was a little less heinous than usual (the sound wasn't as jacked and they didn't have loud music playing downstairs), but they still squeeze everyone out through tiny exits and then yell at everyone for milling around in front of the venue while trying to regroup.

Speaking of regrouping: after Boston on Saturday and Saratoga for Spiderman, the age of staying home will officially commence.

rock shows, jarvis
