[...yeah, he doesn't even bother to reply to this after hearing it. It's pretty obvious what Toph's doing, so he just ventures outside, hunting for Toph's scent.

He follows it when he finds it, tracking her down to the wall.]

[She's there, lying on her back in the grass, her hair stuck to her head on one side where a gash is bleeding lightly.

Sollux told her where the infirmary was but she doesn't really feel like getting up right now. She can wait and go in a while.

She feels Derek's footfalls approaching, but doesn't really recognize that it's him until he's close.]

[He can smell the blood, but there's not too much of it, so he doesn't try to get her to the infirmary right away. Instead, he just sinks down on the grass next to her.]

This the first time you tried to use the full extent of your abilities?

[She tries to sit up and glare but gives up after the first half-hearted movement sends pain through her head. She settles for glaring at the sky.]

I miss Sokka.

[It's a reflex response, the kind of thing she'd rib Katara or Aang with when they couldn't come up with a plan. Or read a map. Or make a joke. Or understand hers. But the moment she's said it, it's true and she can't stop hearing his pumpkin's voice. Soon there's a hollow sensation in her gut to match the pounding in her head.
