No rest for the weary - Ubergeek Warning!

Did I mention the clusterfark that has been my laptop? Last night I installed a new operating system AGAIN. Windows was getting a little too shaky, so about two weeks ago, I finally made the move to linux. Ubuntu seemed to be the way to go for laptop use, so I gave it a shot. About a week and a half later, it was getting shaky because of all the mistakes I made trying to get it to act the way I wanted, so I tried out the new Fedora Core 5, which was supposed to be even better for the laptop. This time it ony took two days to give it up. (I couldn't get VMware installed nicely, and I require it so I can keep usig Quicken and a few others). Last night I switched to the latest Ubuntu test release, Dapper Drake (who come sup with this crap), and it's worked pretty nicely so far. Right now my biggest gripe is that I my wireless card appears to be working but won't connect to anything, and I can't use Semagic (yet). I'm hoping I can get it running under Wine. If anyone's had success with that or wishes to recommend their favorite LJ client, let me know (I took a glance at the Drivel and Logjam and both felt weak). OK, no more geekness, I need to make a real post and get to bed.
