Yesterday was a very long day of flying and I am glad it's over with, because now I'm in Hawaii!!!

But now for the down side: we woke up at 4am this morning because of the time change (equivalent of 9am EST) and killed time in the hotel until just before 6am. Steve and I went on a jog next to the Waikiki beach, hoping to also watch the sun rise. While jogging I managed to invert my ankle while stepping off a curb. And now I am nursing perhaps the worst sprained ankle since I broke my other ankle 14 years ago. I felt a pop in my ankle and instantaneous pain.

The benefit of being a physical therapist is knowing that it is just sprained. The pop I felt was my anterior talofibular ligament (ATFl) tearing either partially or completely (not sure which). The ATFL is the most commonly hurt ligament in an ankle. A classic sprain.

But I was able to get up and bear weight and then walk the mile back to the hotel (after saying FUCK about a dozen times first). Just a bad sprain, but I am currently bed ridden with my foot elevated and with ice on my ankle.

The hotel we stayed at last night is pretty interesting. A mix between a hostel, motel, and hotel. All the people staying here are our age and are foreign (ie: Brazilian). But it was cheap, and clean, so I am happy.

More to be posted later. It isn't even 8 am yet, hahaha.
