Tonight: The Second Chance 8/7C (performance by Rachael Yamagata)

Josh Schwartz was on my favorite LA radio morning show this morning, Kevin and Bean. Bean, who lives on an island, loves the OC, so he was like really excited. He talked about the Marissa/Alex storyline (that hopefully goes somewhere tonight), then the fact that the OC gets some of the hottest bands to play at "The Baitshop." Josh said that he wouldn't want to be in the music industry though, which makes sense because the TV industry is so much kinder and gentler. Question mark. Josh listens to music supplied by Alex Patsatvas (the musical director) as he writes the scenes. Lastly, since he is from Rhode Island, he's a huge Patriots fan--and Ralph, the entertainment guy for Kevin and Bean, is the biggest Eagles fan ever--so they made a wager.

If the Pats win, Ralph will have a weekly OC segment on Fridays with updates, recaps, clips, etc (much like this livejournal). If the Eagles win (which I hope they do), Josh will write Ralph a part on the OC. So we'll see what happens, the Super Bowl is this Sunday.

It’s almost the end of January and I spent a lot of time over the holidays perusing “Best CD’s of 2004” and “Top Ten” Lists provided by my favorite magazines, websites, radio stations and record stores. Because of my job as music supervisor on The O.C., I am able to collaborate with Josh Schwartz and the other exec producers and place some of my favorite bands in the show.

The Chop Shop Music Supervision staff …Andrea von Foerster, Andy Gowan, Angela Correa and I put together a list of our 50 favorite albums of last year. In no particular order, the following is a list of bands we licensed or we wanted to license last year.

Newman, Franz Ferdinand, Belle & Sebastian, TV On The Radio, The Killers, Keane, The Walkmen, Kings Of Convenience, !!!, The Perishers, The Futureheads, Gravenhurst, Stars, Apostle Of Hustle, Interpol, Sufjan Stevens, The Streets, Earlimart, Mascott, Trent Dabbs, Matt Pond PA, Pinback, Dolorean, Rilo Kiley, Elliott Smith, Flunk, Iron & Wine, Jem, Mark Lanegan, Modest Mouse, Psapp, Rogue Wave, Scissor Sisters, Vive Voce, Wilco, The Decemberists, Brendan Benson, Bellx1, Feeder, Aqueduct, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Phoenix, Thirteen Senses, Kasabian, Louis IV, Snow Patrol, and Eagles Of Death Metal
