Holiday Weekend
I wish all of my American friends a great Independence Day weekend! I wish everyone else a great weekend. We head to western Michigan Tuesday for vacation. It's about a 10-hour drive from here to Holland. We'll be at Michigan Adventure amusement park in Muskegon on Wednesday, before meeting up with the rest of my family in Holland Wednesday evening. I hope the temperature there is a little cooler than the 90s we've had for the last couple of weeks or so.
Michigan is the only state my 82-year-old mom has never visited, which is why the family is taking her there for vacation. We'll also spend a couple of days at Indiana Beach on Shafer Lake near Monticello, Indiana. It is the site of our earliest family vacations. The family was last there in 1961. I think mom is more excited about returning to Shafer Lake than she is with the Michigan part of the trip.
