you walk by me,
not even sparing a second of your attention for me.
it hurts but i smile a painful smile as i pretend to listen attentively to my peers.
then, you turn, stop, look at me and smile. and there's a twinkle in your eye.
you saw me, i thought.
but then i realize you were looking straight through me the entire four seconds.
i swooned, and you paid no attention.
i break down and fall to pieces in front of my peers.
wearing a silver and red evening gown, i cower away.
throwing a champagne glass to the ground and ripping my hair from its bun.
i reach the stairs and i slip and stay on the ground crying until everyone at the party circles around me, with pity in their eyes. i am the center of attention and i hate it. everyone notices me except you, so i get up and walk out the door. i leave you in apparent sorrow.
i come to my limo where my partner is waiting, my distraction was a success and he got what we came for.
he kisses me and i fall deeply into him.
