The Weekend Before Last

Had a wonderful weekend 'up to camp.' I saw my favorite little boy, my favorite little dog, my favorite little mother, and I swam in my favorite little lake. I can't say enough about how good it feels to sit in silence on the camp porch and look out at the lake. There's so much to take in: the trees, the breeze, the fleas... Just kidding about the fleas.

On Friday night, I went with Tiny to the local bar in Bethel and Lord in Heaven, I barely survived. However agonizing the experience, there were several moments which helped me to feel immensely better about my own existence. Some of the folks from Bethel seem to be frozen in time. They sport the same clothes and hairstyles, and have the same social group. I wonder what that's like: to have such things be completely consistent over many years.

I've come to realize something recently: the deer fly is no friend to humankind.
