It's been quite a year folks, eh? What are we on, day ten only? Jeez Louise...
Finally saw Darrah's band on Friday night, the Stick and Rag Village Orchestra! Go here for more information and a fabulous picture. That's D right in front! Stick and Rag was playing a benefit show for a home/program for developmentally delayed adults. I regret to say that I completely forgot to donate. Argh. When Beth and I walked in the door to the show, we were greeted by Alice, who proudly showed off her artwork on the wall: pictures of a bat, a rainbow, a woman. Meanwhile, folks were dancing and bobbing to the klezmer strains of Stick and Rag. One couldn't help but move to the music. Alice was finally distracted by the newest-comer and Beth and I claimed our spot in the audience. Everyone was having such a good time! Drinks were spilled and snacks were mashed into the floor! All in the spirit of eccentric circus music.
Another highlight to the weekend was dining at Buddha's Delight in Chinatown. It's a strictly vegetarian restaurant, and I was able to enjoy meatless chicken fingers. So, so good. We also stopped at the bakery where Beth used to work. She was hoping to get her buns buttered, but to no avail. However, we did share a delectible cheese danish that seemed to console her to a degree.
No matter how many talks I have with myself, I still can't seem to trust mustached men. There's one here in the library, browsing books. But because he wears a mustache, his browsing seems far from innocent. He must be skulking, plotting... Hmmm, I've got to see to it that I'm not followed on the way home. Just kidding of course, but you know what I mean, right???
