so stefan and I hit vegas this past weekend. and twas a good time at that. I got out there Saturday and met up with a HS classmate for lunch at the Pink Taco (Mexican food). then went and checked in at the Luxor and waited around for Stefan to show up. Meanwhile I talked to my buddy the Mormon who recently became wed and congratulated him on beginning his collection of wives. Stefan showed up finally (plane delays I believe was part of the problem) and we went to the room and chatted it up for a bit. then we went and had some food at the Pharaoh's Pheast buffet and headed off into the night. hit up Excalibur where we gambled a little, then walked up to the Mirage/Treasure Island/Venetian area (which is probably about a mile, mile.5). Stefan saw a sign for a show that he wanted to see, and I had to tell him that I wouldn't go, but he was more than welcome to go see "the thunder down under." then back to the hotel around midnight our time, had a glass of Johnnie Black and went to bed.
Got up Sunday morning and went and got our rental car (which we had reserved the day before) and laughed at some of the people in line in front of us because they walked away super pissed cuz there wasn't a car for them cuz they didn't make a reservation. hehehe. so off to Hoover Dam it was, only took about 40-45 minutes to get there. that place is pretty cool. Especially if you think about the waterslide possibilities. We wandered about for probably 3-4 hours or so then headed back to Vegas. On the way to the Dam, there was maybe 10-15 minutes added due to traffic and safety checks (there was a security/brake check point roughly 3-4 miles from the dam). on the way back from the dam, the line was close to 7-8 miles long going about 5 miles an hour. So me being the friendly guy I am, smiled and waved at the people going the other way. Stefan said I was being an ass for some reason. Got back to Vegas and drove through downtown (which is where I will stay next time I think) and down the strip and then returned the car. Now, this thing was a convertible and we drove pretty much the entire time with the top down. and looking at me now, would you guess I was even in the sun? no, which helps prove my point that SPF15 is perfectly fine. Wings at Hooters hotel and casino and more walking and a little bit of blackjack at the Tropicana, and we were done. this time roughly 11 vegas time and had a glass of Johnnie Black (provided by me, of course) and off to bed.
Wake up and go eat breakfast then check out. We now have 1.5 hours or so before we have to leave, so what do we do? gamble. Jim and Stefan found single deck black jack a little later than we would have liked, because that was the one table where both of us actually made a profit. anyway, we're there for about the time stated above so we then head to the aeroport. We get checked in and it is found out that passengers are unable to check baggage more than 4 hours before departure (thank you radical Muslims between the ages of 17 and 40 for liking to hijack planes) and so I have to wait, I can't even go through security because I have liquid in my bag so that can't go through security. anyway Stefan decides to be nice and stays out with me until he has to go to his flight and then I finally can check my bag and go to my gate, so I have about 3.5 hours before I'm going to board, so plenty of time to be bored. but some of you might be shocked by this, I actually read at least part of a book for a fare about of that time. Then off I went and home I came.
That's about it.
have a nice day
